What’s Behind US Using of Mercenaries in Occupied Territories?

What’s Behind US Using of Mercenaries in Occupied Territories?

Yemen: Given the developments from the maritime confrontations in Sana'a against Israel, the US, Britain, and their allies, including the Gulf presence in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, the true motives behind these moves become clearer.

With the defeat of the US-led coalition in Yemen and the Yemeni forces' success in continuing and expanding the maritime blockade on Israel, these countries align with the US and the "New Middle East" project to maintain US dominance and enhance Israel's presence in the region. A victory by Sana'a would defeat the Zionist project and its US backing in the region, making Sana'a a significant obstacle to their expansionist ambitions.

There is significant dissatisfaction within Zionist circles—both in the US and Israel—regarding Yemen's ongoing strikes, especially after the attack on Israel’s capital with a “Yafa” drone and Yemen's retaliation for Israel’s aggression on Hodeidah port. Furthermore, Yemen has successfully enforced a maritime blockade on Israeli ports for over a year.

In December of last year, Tariq Saleh, a mercanery leader, met with US and Israeli officers in Djibouti, alongside Emirati intelligence officials, to coordinate a response against Yemen's maritime strikes on Israeli ships in the Red Sea. After Yemen attacked a Norwegian oil tanker headed for Israel, US and Saudi military officials discussed plans to protect Israeli ships from Yemen's targeting.

US analysts believe Israel is unable to confront Yemen’s forces due to the ongoing war in Gaza, the conflict with Hezbollah, and logistical challenges. The complexity of Yemen’s geography weakens Israel’s ability to affect Yemen’s military capabilities, and Sana'a has significantly hindered Western and Israeli intelligence operations.

The US and Israel fear that foreign intervention, particularly Israeli presence in Yemen, would increase the popularity of the Yemeni government and military, making mercenaries a more suitable solution. The US is reluctant to risk sending American or Western forces due to past defeats in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

The international focus on Yemen’s resilience in supporting Gaza and Lebanon has led to increased pressure from Zionist-backed parties, including the US pushing mercenaries to counteract Sana'a's stance against Israel and its regional policies.

As the resistance axis continues to resist Israeli expansion and occupation, Yemen’s military preparedness remains a key factor, and any external attempts to escalate the situation will face strong opposition.
