11 Feb. Over 9 Years: 16 Civilians Killed and Injured in US-Saudi Airstrikes Targeting Yemen

Yemen: The US-Saudi aggression deliberately committed war crimes and acts of genocide against civilians on 11 February in the years 2016, 2017, and 2018. Through relentless airstrikes on homes, properties, mosques, schools, and farms in the provinces of Taiz and Sa'adah, the coalition inflicted widespread devastation.

These attacks resulted in 10 deaths and 6 injuries, most of them women and children. The bombings destroyed homes and properties, displaced dozens of families, exacerbated humanitarian suffering, and deepened the crisis. The horrifying scenes of torn and charred bodies and bleeding wounds on innocent civilians shook the conscience of the world.

Key Details:

2016: US-Saudi Airstrikes Target Civilian Homes in Sa'adah

On 11 February 2016, the US-Saudi coalition carried out yet another war crime against the Yemeni people. Airstrikes directly targeted homes and properties in Al-Maghram and Al-Ghanem areas in Baqim District, Sa'adah Province. These attacks displaced dozens of families, destroyed schools, shops, and farms, and intensified human suffering.

The coalition’s frenzied airstrikes on civilian sites constituted a full-fledged war crime and a blatant violation of international treaties. They aimed to annihilate the Yemeni people, destroy infrastructure, and render the land uninhabitable in an attempt to subjugate civilians.

As the warplanes retreated, the devastation became clear—homes reduced to rubble, schools turned into piles of debris, and businesses engulfed in flames. Women and children fled their homes, leaving behind everything in a desperate bid for survival. The echoes of their cries of despair drowned out the roar of the departing fighter jets.

2017: 16 Killed and Injured—Mostly Children—in US-Saudi War Crime in Taiz

On the same date in 2017, the US-Saudi coalition added another war crime to its record of massacres, this time in Mokha District, Taiz Province. Direct airstrikes on civilian homes resulted in 10 deaths and six injuries, the majority being children and women.

That day, coalition warplanes loomed over Mokha, carrying death and destruction. Without warning, they unleashed a relentless bombardment on unsuspecting civilians. Homes collapsed, burying families alive. Bodies were torn apart, leaving behind a landscape of sorrow and devastation.

The airstrikes showed no mercy. Children playing in courtyards, mothers preparing meals, and elders gathering in their homes—all were indiscriminately targeted. The sheer brutality of the attack violated every international law and humanitarian principle.

2018: US-Saudi Airstrikes Target Civilian Homes in Maran, Sa'adah

On the same date in 2018, the coalition added yet another war crime to its record, this time targeting homes and civilian properties in the regions of Al-Raqa and Al-Buq’a in Maran, Haydan District, Sa'adah Province. The airstrikes left behind widespread destruction, forced dozens of families from their homes, and inflicted renewed fear and suffering, especially on women and children.

The deliberate targeting of homes, properties, and civilian gatherings amounted to a premeditated war crime and genocide. It constituted a gross violation of international laws, demanding a united global stance to support Yemeni civilians, end the aggression, lift the ongoing siege, and bring war criminals to justice.
