Decade of the U.S. Marines’ Withdrawal from Sana’a: Strength Amid American Defeat at Sea

Yemen: The tenth anniversary of the U.S. Marines' withdrawal from Sana’a comes as Yemen stands at the peak of its strength, following the American defeat in the seas.

The U.S. departure from Yemen occurred just months after the success of the eternal September 21 Revolution—the "Revolution of Freedom and Independence"—and after Washington realized the failure of its internal proxies, which the revolution had effectively dismantled.

The United States recognized that it had no place left in Yemen and that its best option was to withdraw and seek alternative means to regain control over the country.

Immediately after their departure, Yemen was subjected to a brutal war led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, with direct encouragement and support from the U.S., aiming to extinguish the spark of the blessed revolution that had put an end to decades of American dominance over Yemen.

A Humiliating Exit for the Americans
Amjad Al-Share’i, director of the office of the Minister of Information, stated: "The humiliating American escape from Yemen is clear evidence that the U.S. relies primarily on infiltrating internal fronts. When nations unite, America loses its power and is forced into disgraceful retreats, as was the case in our country."

In an exclusive statement to Almasirah, he added: "Commemorating this occasion is crucial, as it marks the day American arrogance was shattered by the Yemeni people, who placed their trust in God and believed that divine will prevails over U.S. ambitions."

Al-Share’i explained that when the U.S. became fully convinced that Yemen had been liberated, breaking the chains imposed by the American Marines and severing all the treacherous hands used to control Yemen’s decision-making, it resorted to destroying its own weapons, shredding its documents, and making a hasty escape.

Ending U.S. guardianship over Yemen was a historic and fundamental event, both domestically and internationally. The once-fractured Yemen, plagued by tribal conflicts and weakened institutions, regained its strength, healed its wounds, and reemerged with freedom and independence as its guiding principle.

A Strategic Shift in Regional Power
Dr. Qadri Sarwan, financial official at the Arab Union of Journalists and Media Professionals, emphasized that the anniversary of the American retreat will remain a recurring event, a moment to draw lessons from the resounding defeat inflicted upon the U.S.—a defeat it never anticipated.

Sarwan described the fall of American dominance in Yemen as a "strategic milestone and a major shift in the regional power struggle," stating that the September 21 Revolution ended decades of American hegemony over the country.

He highlighted that under the leadership of Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, the revolution not only dismantled U.S. control over Yemen but also challenged the global American empire, emerging as a formidable force against Western powers—led by the U.S., the UK, and their allies.

Sarwan added: "These events have proven that national willpower can overcome even the greatest challenges. The Yemeni army achieved successive victories, demonstrating the strength of popular resistance and national determination."

He stressed that the American retreat was not merely a military withdrawal but rather a failure to achieve the strategic objectives Washington had set in the region. Over the years, Yemen has continued to confront challenges with resilience, while the U.S. defeat stemmed from its inability to grasp the complexities of the Yemeni struggle and its underestimation of the people's strength.

According to Sarwan, the anniversary of the American withdrawal is not just a reminder of the past but an opportunity to reflect on the future. He called for learning from history and working toward lasting peace and stability in Yemen.

He urged Yemenis to rally behind their revolutionary leadership, represented by Sayyed Abdul Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, to build a free and independent nation, free from foreign interference.

Sarwan concluded: "The Yemeni people deserve peace and dignity. There must be genuine international commitment to ending the suffering that our nation has endured for ten years."

A Future Rooted in Resistance and Independence
After a decade of ending U.S. guardianship over Yemen, the Yemeni people continue to move forward with unwavering determination to build and defend their nation while standing up for the oppressed worldwide, particularly in support of Palestine—the central cause of the Islamic nation.

The glorious September 21 Revolution did not merely expel U.S. control over Yemen; it transformed the country into a formidable adversary against the world's most dominant powers. The once-arrogant and domineering United States suffered an unprecedented blow at the hands of the Yemeni armed forces.

Today, as "Operation Al-Aqsa Flood" unfolds, it serves as the ultimate test, exposing the reality of Western powers and their illusory dominance, which for decades maintained hegemony over the world.
