Jouad Nasrallah: My Father Saw Yemen’s Struggle as a Model of Resistance

Yemen: Jouad Nasrallah, the son of the martyr of humanity, martyr leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, stated that his father closely followed developments in Yemen.

In an exclusive interview with Al-Masirah TV on Tuesday evening, he emphasized that his father took great pride in his unwavering support for the Yemeni people. He highlighted that Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah deeply respected Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi, considering the Yemeni people as pioneers of a unique school of resistance—not just through military advancements but through their resilience and unwavering determination in the face of aggression.

Jouad Nasrallah’s testimony sheds light on the profound legacy of his father, not only as a resistance leader but also as a father, teacher, and mentor. His life was a blend of ideological struggle, political activism, and humanitarian work, making him an enduring symbol in the collective memory of the Islamic and Arab nations.

A Life Dedicated to Resistance and Struggle

Jouad Nasrallah discussed various aspects of his father’s journey in the resistance, from its early days to the major victories achieved over the past decades. He revealed that they had been repeatedly offered opportunities to leave Lebanon but refused to do so.

He affirmed that Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was martyred while engaged in the noblest of causes, on the battlefield, achieving the most honorable of endings. He expressed hope that the blood of the fallen leaders, including that of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, would serve as a catalyst for greater victories and resilience, especially amid ongoing transformations favoring the resistance movement.

Jouad also pointed out that South Lebanon had always been at the heart of the conflict due to Israeli occupation of Palestine. He noted that the occupation continuously sought to distort the image of freedom fighters, portraying them as outlaws or rebels, while in reality, they were seekers of justice. He emphasized that the culture of resistance was significantly strengthened under Imam Musa al-Sadr, who focused on raising awareness and mobilizing the people alongside military support.

Early Days in Resistance and the Path to Leadership

Reflecting on his father’s early days in the resistance, Jouad explained that Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah grew up in an environment marked by killings, occupation, and destruction at the hands of the Zionist enemy. With the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, alongside his comrades under the leadership of the martyred Sayyed Abbas Al-Mousawi, laid the foundation for the resistance movement, beginning in Baalbek and extending towards the South and the southern suburbs of Beirut.

He emphasized that his father believed that jihad stemmed primarily from a firm ideological conviction. The resistance movement was founded on ideological and intellectual principles, with mosques, training camps, and villages serving as the primary arenas for educating society and raising future generations. This approach played a crucial role in the resistance’s strength and the significant victories achieved over the past two decades.

A Father and a Mentor

On a personal level, Jouad Nasrallah shared insights into his father’s parenting style, emphasizing that he believed actions spoke louder than words. Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was a model of humility, family devotion, and respect for elders. He instilled in his children a deep connection with Allah and a strong sense of responsibility for their choices. He also stressed the importance of respecting others’ privacy and refraining from spreading harmful gossip.

Jouad highlighted his father’s passion for knowledge and scholars, noting that he frequently visited and honored them. This intellectual curiosity shaped his leadership style, which balanced spirituality with political insight.

He also noted that Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah possessed remarkable oratory skills from a young age, delivering his first speech at just sixteen. His eloquence and command of language captivated audiences, and over the decades, he remained steadfast in his humility and commitment to ethical and spiritual values.

Political Vision and Resistance Against US and Israeli Aggression

Among the significant political perspectives Jouad discussed was his father’s view of the United States. Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah never saw America as an invincible force and urged people not to fear it. He firmly believed that Israel’s defeat would come through a series of sustained efforts rather than a single decisive blow. This strategy was evident in his approach to recent battles, particularly in the context of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation.
