These crimes included direct airstrikes, missile and artillery bombardments targeting homes, markets, schools, water transport trucks, farms, agricultural cooling refrigerators, and plastic and shoe factories in Sa'adah and Taiz governorates.
The attacks resulted in the martyrdom of four women, wounding four children, displacing dozens of families, and depriving hundreds of students of their right to education. Public and private properties were destroyed, causing a wave of fear and increasing suffering, worsening the living conditions and the future of Yemen.
Key Details:
2016: One Martyr and Four Injured in US-Saudi Aggression Strikes on Sa'adah:
On Thursday, March 3, 2016, the US-Saudi aggression added three war crimes to its record, targeting civilian homes in Razeh District, Sa'adah, as well as vital markets in the city of Sa'adah. The attacks resulted in the martyrdom of one woman, the injury of four civilians, and the destruction of both public and private properties, worsening the humanitarian situation in one of the most heavily affected provinces.
The repeated airstrikes on Sa'adah confirm a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which prohibits targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
These crimes are not isolated incidents; rather, they are part of a recurring pattern that deepens the humanitarian disaster in Yemen, leaving the population with two choices: death under bombardment or famine due to the destruction of their livelihoods.
The international community and human rights organizations must hold the US-Saudi aggression accountable for these crimes, pressure for an independent investigation, and lift the blockade that prevents the delivery of aid. Efforts must also be made to protect civilians and end the aggression that has been devastating Yemen for more than a decade.
2018: Three Martyrs in US-Saudi Airstrikes on Taiz:
On the same day in 2018, the US-Saudi aggression recorded an additional war crime in its record against the Yemeni people, targeting citizens' farms in the Al-Areesh area of the Mawza district in Taiz governorate with a series of brutal airstrikes.
This resulted in the martyrdom of three women, the destruction of crops and trees, terrorizing the local population, and exacerbating their suffering. Before the airstrikes, the women were collecting fodder, as part of their daily routine, while the aggression's aircraft searched for civilian targets to carry out its horrific crime.
In a moment, the residents of this remote area heard the sound of warplanes flying low, and they wondered what they were targeting—there were no military camps, no weapons storage, no homes of army leaders. Why the frequent flights? The answer came from the sky, as they witnessed the airstrikes hit their modest farms, claiming the lives of their innocent women, with no other sin than being in Yemen.
After the airstrikes stopped, a sense of shock and disbelief settled over the area. Search operations for the missing began, and the bodies of the three martyrs were found amidst sorrow and mourning.
This tragedy was not the first of its kind in Taiz, where civilians have suffered the ravages of war for years. These airstrikes terrorized the residents, destroyed their livelihoods, and intensified their suffering.
2018: Targeting Civilians and Educational Infrastructure in Sa'adah in US-Saudi Airstrikes:
On the same day in 2018, Sa'adah Governorate witnessed two new war crimes committed by the US-Saudi aggression. The aggression targeted civilians, vital infrastructure, farms, and properties with brutal direct airstrikes, missile, and artillery shelling.
These attacks led to the martyrdom of two children, the injury of a woman and a child, the destruction of both public and private properties, and the exacerbation of the humanitarian tragedy.
The international community must hold the aggressors accountable for these crimes, pressure to halt the supply of weapons to the forces involved in the aggression, assist in rebuilding the destroyed civilian infrastructure, prosecute war criminals, and ensure justice for the victims' families in Yemen.
From schools to hospitals and homes, these attacks reflect the coalition’s callous disregard for civilian life. With no justice for victims and global powers complicit through silence, Yemen’s agony persists. As one survivor pleaded: “How many children must die before the world acts?” The answer, tragically, remains buried in the rubble.
