News - Yemen: The Yemeni Armed Forces have successfully achieved consecutive successes in detecting and targeting US MQ-9 drones, according to the analysis of military expert Colonel Akram Kamal Seroui.

Colonel Kamal stated on Wednesday that these achievements were not a coincidence but rather the result of significant advancements in Yemeni military capabilities, particularly in air defense.

The military expert explained that detecting drones flying at altitudes of up to 10 kilometers is not an easy task, as it requires advanced radar systems and long-range missiles capable of reaching such heights.

He added that MQ-9 drones are designed to be largely stealthy, with a low radar signature that makes detection challenging. However, the Yemeni Armed Forces have managed to identify the weaknesses of these drones and understand their flight paths over Yemeni airspace, enabling them to develop effective tactics to target them.

Colonel Kamal confirmed that this advancement in Yemeni military capabilities has become a source of concern for the US, prompting it to reassess the situation in the region.

He added that these successes reflect significant progress in surveillance and targeting, placing the Yemeni forces in an advanced position in facing modern military challenges.

Colonel Akram Kamal concluded by saying that these military achievements demonstrate Yemen's ability to confront advanced threats, forcing US forces to reconsider their calculations in the region.

Since November 2023, the Yemeni Armed Forces have claimed responsibility for downing fivteen American MQ-9 Reaper drones in a series of operations. 

This intensification of operations and the increased success rate in targeting American drones is unprecedented, demonstrating Sana’a’s improved precision skills and expanded offensive capabilities.
