In a statement, the PFLP described the decision as part of the U.S.'s aggressive policy targeting resistance forces and free peoples who reject domination and colonization.
The PFLP emphasized that Yemen continues to fight in defense of the just causes of the Arab nation, with Palestine at the forefront.
The statement pointed out that the U.S., which ignites wars around the world and supports the Zionist entity, is not in a position to classify resistance organizations. It further stated that the U.S. is the primary enemy of nations seeking liberation and independence.
The PFLP affirmed its full support for the Yemeni people and Ansarullah in facing these sanctions, aggression, and the blockade, noting that Yemeni steadfastness is a model for resisting colonialism and its tools in the region.
Earlier, the Trump administration announced the implementation of the decision to classify Ansarullah, which was signed at the beginning of the year. Hours after the U.S. decision, the Yemeni forces reported shooting down an American MQ-9 drone off the western coast of Yemen.
This decision comes amid Yemen’s military support for Palestine, particularly in the battle against the Israeli genocide in Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, and continued until January 19, 2025. The conflict resulted in over 160 thousands Palestinian martyrs and injuries, more than 14,000 missing, and widespread destruction in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Yemeni forces succeeded in launching regular and escalating attacks using hypersonic, ballistic, and cruise missiles, as well as drones, on Israeli targets, including its core centers and the capital of the occupied entity, Tel Aviv.
Yemen also imposed a comprehensive ban on Israeli ships entering Palestinian ports.
The U.S. and the UK failed to break the Yemeni blockade for over a year, with Yemeni forces forcing Western fleets, including four U.S. aircraft carriers, to withdraw from the operational theater in the Red and Arabian Seas.
When the Gaza ceasefire took effect on January 19, 2025, Yemen's leader Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi repeatedly affirmed Yemen’s readiness to resume operations immediately if the Israeli entity failed to adhere to the ceasefire terms.
Washington continues to exert economic pressure on Yemen to halt its support for Palestine, but Yemen has firmly rejected this, signaling that the U.S. should expect a response from Yemen regarding this latest designation.
