In a statement, Al-Thawabta said, “The effects of the siege are evident in all aspects of life. Gaza has officially entered the first stages of famine, with nearly two million people having completely lost food security.”
He explained that the suspension of charitable organizations and the halt of humanitarian aid, along with the lack of essential food supplies due to border closures, have deprived Palestinians of basic necessities. The blockade on fuel has forced dozens of bakeries to shut down, worsening the bread shortage and intensifying civilian suffering.
The shutdown of dozens of water wells has exacerbated the drinking water crisis, leaving residents at serious risk due to the lack of potable water. Over two million people are now relying on firewood for cooking as cooking gas is no longer allowed into Gaza.
Additionally, the fuel shortage has paralyzed the transportation sector, preventing citizens, patients, and the injured from reaching hospitals and medical centers, endangering thousands of lives.
Al-Thawabta warned that if the Israeli aggression does not stop and border crossings remain closed, the coming days will be catastrophic. He stressed that famine threatens hundreds of thousands, and life in Gaza could collapse entirely.
He held the Zionist entity and the US administration directly responsible for what he described as genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, calling for urgent international accountability. He urged Arab and Islamic countries to enforce resolutions to break the siege and pressure for the immediate reopening of the Rafah crossing and all border points leading to Gaza.
Al-Thawabta also called on the international community and human rights organizations to take urgent action to stop Israeli aggression and hold war criminals accountable in international courts. He emphasized the need for immediate humanitarian aid to prevent a full-scale humanitarian catastrophe.
Israel launched its brutal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, but the regime failed to achieve its declared objectives despite killing more than 48,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
The Tel Aviv regime accepted the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas’s longstanding negotiation terms under the three-phase Gaza truce, which began on January 19.
Later, however, Israel refused to move forward to the second stage of the ceasefire, which required it to withdraw the occupation troops from Gaza.
