Yemen FM Urges Global Action: End US Backing of Genocide, Aggression

News – Yemen: Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Jamal Amer, issued urgent appeals on Monday to international officials and organizations, calling for condemnation of the ongoing US aggression against Yemen and demanding global pressure to bring the attacks to an end.

The messages were sent to the President of the Human Rights Council, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and Council members, the President of the UN General Assembly, the President of the Security Council, the UN Secretary-General, as well as to all nations and regional and international organizations.

In his letters, Amer called for the formation of an independent international committee to investigate all crimes committed by the United States against the Yemeni people and their resources.

“The US has so far launched nearly 1,000 airstrikes, targeting hundreds of innocent civilians—including women and children—and striking dozens of civilian sites such as ports, airports, farms, health facilities, water tanks, and historical landmarks,” he stated.

Amer highlighted one of the latest atrocities: the targeting of Ras Issa Port, which resulted in the deaths of 80 civilians and injuries to 150 others. He also condemned the deliberate targeting of paramedics, a residential neighborhood, and Furwah Market in the Sha’ub District of the capital, Sana’a, on Sunday night, which left 12 civilians dead and over 30 injured.

The foreign minister stressed that “the international community’s silence in the face of American aggression has emboldened the US to intensify its destruction of Yemen’s infrastructure and continue shedding innocent blood.”

He reiterated that “this aggression is not about securing navigation in the Red Sea, but rather about protecting the usurping Zionist entity, lifting the siege imposed on it, and enabling it to continue its extermination of the Palestinian people and erasure of their just cause. It is also a futile attempt to pressure Yemen into abandoning its religious and moral support for the Palestinian people in Gaza.”

The US aggression has intensified its airstrikes on Yemen over the past month, killing over 200 people since March. The latest attack struck the densely populated Furwah neighborhood in Sana’a, killing at least 12 civilians and injuring more than 30. The assault targeted a crowded market in the Sha'ub District, and the death toll is expected to rise as rescue efforts continue.

These attacks are part of a broader US campaign claiming to deter Yemen from targeting Israel-linked vessels. However, Yemeni forces have vowed to continue their operations in the Red Sea and beyond until Israel ends its war on Gaza.

In response to the genocide in Gaza and foreign aggression, Yemen has imposed a strategic blockade on key maritime routes, aiming to disrupt arms shipments and pressure the global community to intervene in the humanitarian crisis.
