In a brief statement, the US Navy confirmed that the jet fell from the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman—the same carrier used as a base for launching aggressive operations against Yemen, while Yemeni Armed Forces continue to respond with missile and drone attacks against the carrier.
This admission comes just hours after Yemen’s military announced a major engagement with the USS Truman and its strike group, forcing it to retreat to the far northern Red Sea. Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e revealed a precision operation targeting the carrier with multiple missiles and drones, in retaliation for US massacres in Sana’a and Sa’adah.
This is not the first time Washington has admitted to losing advanced fighter jets of this model. On December 22, it reported the loss of an F-18 without providing details—shortly before Brig. Gen. Sare’e announced a successful operation against the USS Truman, which resulted in the downing of the mentioned fighter.
Earlier, the Yemeni military confirmed that American forces committed two massacres in recent hours—one in Sana’a and another in Sa’adah—resulting in dozens of martyrs and wounded. In response, Yemeni forces targeted the US aircraft carrier Truman and its accompanying warships in the Red Sea.
The operation, conducted using cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and drones over several hours, forced the carrier to retreat northward from its previous position. The Armed Forces warned that they would continue pursuing US and hostile warships in the Red and Arabian Seas until the aggression against Yemen ceases.
Yemeni forces have firmly reiterated their commitment to ongoing military operations in the Red Sea and beyond until the Israeli war on Gaza is brought to an end.
