News - Yemen: Military analyst Brigadier General Omar Moarabouni affirmed that the repeated downing of US aircraft, including the F-18 fighter jet, signals the failure of US military strategies despite its technological superiority.

In an interview on Al-Masirah TV, Moarabouni stated that the confrontation between Yemen and the United States has reached a critical phase, exposing gaps in American strategy while showcasing the growing effectiveness of the Yemeni military—driven by advanced capabilities and moral conviction. He emphasized that the US acknowledgment of these incidents carries strategic and symbolic weight, shaking its image as a dominant global power.

Despite Washington’s sophisticated weaponry and decades of military experience, Moarabouni pointed out that the repeated downings indicate a serious challenge. He highlighted Yemen’s prior ability to penetrate Israeli air defenses and strike targets as evidence of its high-level missile and drone capabilities, placing it on near-equal footing in the maritime conflict.

He stressed that Yemen’s position is rooted in religious, moral, and humanitarian responsibility to support Gaza and defend its sovereignty, not just in balance-of-power calculations. This reflects, he said, a unified and purposeful decision-making process by Yemeni leadership.

Moarabouni noted that even US officials admit this battle is "unprecedented" since World War II. He described Yemen’s approach as a "school of warfare" that will likely be studied in the future, particularly in naval conflict strategy. He warned that America’s accumulating failures could drag it into an unwinnable quagmire, marked by constant military mobilization and disarray.

He concluded that America’s inability to achieve its objectives constitutes a form of defeat, and that repeated acknowledgments of aircraft losses and failure to neutralize Yemen set a historic precedent in U.S. military history—highlighting the success of the Yemeni model in establishing a new standard in modern warfare.

According to his analysis, Yemen is now capable of transforming this conflict into a revolutionary model that redefines the concepts of strength and vulnerability—and could bring US operations to a halt at any time.

Washington’s drones continue to fall one after another across Yemen, with Yemeni Air Defenses recently downing their 22nd advanced MQ-9 Reaper off the coast of Hajjah Province. This growing toll—22 drones in just a year and a half—demonstrates the escalating capabilities of Yemen’s Armed Forces and the depth of its national resolve. 

Moreover, the US Navy confirmed the loss of an F-18 fighter jet from the USS Truman following a Yemeni strike that forced the carrier to withdraw to the northern Red Sea. The strike was in direct retaliation for US air raids on Sana’a and Sa’adah, which caused civilian casualties. 

Yemeni forces have pledged to keep targeting US military assets in the Red Sea until Washington ends its support for Israeli aggression in Gaza, underscoring Yemen’s continued resistance and its solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
