Shortly after this statement, CNN reported conflicting details, contradicting the Navy’s version.
Brig. Gen. Shamsan highlighted major inconsistencies in the American narratives: “First U.S. Claim: The F-18 was being towed on the flight deck when the carrier executed a sharp maneuver, causing the crashز Later Claim: The jet was inside the hangar when the incident occurred.
Shamsan emphasized: "There’s a huge difference between the aircraft being on the flight deck versus inside the hangar. Hangar doors only open during extreme emergencies or major logistical operations."
Shamsan posed a critical question: "Why would a carrier open its hangar doors while under operational and combat pressure from all sides?"
He argued that the only plausible scenario is that the carrier suffered a severe strike, possibly damaging the hangar doors, leading to the F-18’s fall—contradicting all U.S. explanations.
The U.S. claimed the carrier executed an "evasive maneuver." Shamsan dismissed this as illogical: "How can a carrier—four times the size of a football field—perform sharp turns to dodge a missile traveling at Mach 5 to 8? It’s impossible.
Shamsan confirmed that Yemen has entered a new phase of confrontation—one where it can inflict serious damage on U.S. carriers, moving beyond just thwarting attacks to actively harming American naval supremacy.
He concluded: "The U.S. is trying to evade admitting the F-18’s loss with conflicting stories. But the truth remains: Yemen’s growing capabilities are now a major source of frustration for both America and Israel."
