Israeli Media Warns of Prolonged Air Blockade as Yemeni Strikes Escalate

News - Middle East: The Yemeni hypersonic missile strike on Lod Airport (referred to by the occupiers as Ben Gurion Airport) on Friday afternoon triggered seismic shockwaves—both literal and strategic—deep within the Zionist entity. The resulting mass flight of millions to bomb shelters was matched by an exodus of international airlines, placing the Israeli regime under an increasingly suffocating air blockade, a scenario widely warned of by its own media outlets.

Zionist newspapers covered the recent Yemeni operation and highlighted its crippling consequences. The consensus: the Yemeni front has become the most powerful pressure card against the occupying entity, and this pressure may only intensify with the diminishing role of the US as a protective sponsor.

The Hebrew economic outlet Globes reported that many international airlines have extended the suspension of flights to and from Lod Airport following the latest Yemeni attack.

The outlet added, Major carriers are declaring that they will not resume flights to "Israel" anytime soon, noting that the list of airlines extending their cancellations is growing longer.

Confirming earlier Al-Masirah Net reports on the strategic implications of Lufthansa’s withdrawal—given its fleet across Europe and Asia—Globes stated that Lufthansa’s refusal to resume flights will likely lead many other companies to follow suit.

“When it comes to Lufthansa, it's especially troubling news for the aviation market,” the report said.

The newspaper further warned that any future strike on Lod Airport will escalate the aviation crisis for the enemy and prompt airlines to stay away for an extended period.

Meanwhile, Maariv quoted an official from Lod Airport as saying, "International airlines do not want to resume flights at this stage."

According to the official, Yemeni missile strikes have turned "Israel" into a dangerous destination for international aviation.

He added that unless there is a radical security change or peace agreement, we will not see the airport return to normal, indicating that halting the aggression on Gaza is the only viable solution recognized even by US and Israeli officials amid escalating Yemeni retaliation.

“We are facing an air isolation crisis due to foreign airline hesitation following Yemeni missile attacks,” he said, noting that the economy and tourism sectors are suffering from ongoing threats.

He concluded, “As of now, the feeling is clear: we will not see the airport return to normal in the foreseeable future.”

These growing Israeli fears come as more and more international airlines announce daily flight suspensions to Israeli airports in occupied Palestine. The latest, as of Saturday, is Poland’s LOT Airlines, which has extended its cancellation through May 18. US carriers Delta and United have also extended their suspension through May 20.

Given this data, indicators suggest that any new strike on Israeli airports—especially Lod—will deepen the air blockade, prolong international flight cancellations, and could lead to a permanent suspension if Yemeni deterrence continues, unless the aggression on Gaza ends and the blockade is lifted. This condition is consistently reiterated by the Yemeni Armed Forces in every statement.

The latest wave of international flight suspensions to Israeli airports comes in direct response to a full aerial blockade announced by the Yemeni Armed Forces.

In a televised statement, Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e declared a total air blockade on Israel, vowing to target airports—chiefly Lod Airport—in retaliation for Israel’s intensified assault on Gaza.

The Yemeni military confirmed that their missile strike on the airport temporarily paralyzed operations and sent millions of Israelis into shelters. Stressing the dangers to civilian aviation, Yemen urged all international airlines to immediately halt flights to Israeli territory.

Despite threats from Israeli leaders, Yemen reaffirmed its commitment to confronting the ongoing Zionist crimes in Gaza and across the region.
