Lebanese media outlets, citing local sources speaking on condition of anonymity, reported that an Israeli drone fired a guided missile at a motorcycle as it was traveling along a road linking al-Mansouri neighborhood to Majdal Zoun town in Tyre district on Tuesday.
Israeli Army Radio asserted that the strike targeted a member of the Hezbollah resistance movement.
The development came a day after a Hezbollah member was killed and three civilians were injured in a spate of Israeli air and ground strikes targeting various areas in southern Lebanon.
The official National News Agency (NNA) reported that an Israeli airstrike had targeted the outskirts of the village of Houla.
An unnamed Lebanese security source confirmed that a Hezbollah member, identified as Issa Qutaish and originally from Houla, was killed in the strike.
Meanwhile, the NNA said two people were injured when an Israeli drone hit a motorcycle in Wadi Sarbin area, while another individual was wounded in the shoulder as Israeli forces opened fire on him at the entrance of Kafr Kila village.
On Saturday, the Israeli military also asserted in a statement that it had struck and killed a Hezbollah commander in southern Lebanon.
Several Israeli media outlets reported that the commander was attacked by a drone while inside a car, adding that he was “involved in the reestablishment of Hezbollah infrastructure in the area.”
Since the commencement of the ceasefire, the occupying forces have been launching assaults on Lebanon, including airstrikes throughout the Arab nation, breaching the agreement.
On January 27, 2025, Lebanon announced its decision to extend the ceasefire with Israel until February 18.
Although the deadline of February 18 has passed, Israel continues to maintain its occupation of five significant regions in southern Lebanon, namely Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill, all situated near the border.
Lebanon has condemned the continued presence of Israeli military forces, viewing it as a violation of the ceasefire agreement and the established timeline for withdrawal. Senior officials in Beirut have expressed their commitment to take "all necessary measures" to remove the occupying troops from the nation.
