British Newspaper: US Air Power Strategy Fails Against Adaptive Yemeni Armed Forces

News - Yemen: A British newspaper reported on Tuesday that America's air power strategy has proven ineffective against an adversary capable of adaptation and striking deep into the Red Sea—referring to the Yemeni Armed Forces.

The Guardian, in its Tuesday edition, stated that the aggression carried out by the United States and the Zionist entity against Yemen has failed to achieve its objectives and has not weakened Yemen's military capabilities.

The newspaper noted that Sana'a retains the initiative despite intensive bombardment, emphasizing that missile and drone operations continue at a high pace, signaling the failure of the aerial deterrence campaign.

The Guardian confirmed that targeting infrastructure has not stripped Yemen of control or coordination but has instead strengthened its military and regional political influence. It highlighted that Yemeni operations against Zionist maritime traffic persist, inflicting heavy economic losses on the Israeli occupation economy.

The Yemeni Armed Forces announced Tuesday the targeting of Lod Airport and a vital target in the occupied Yafa area in a dual missile operation using two ballistic missiles, one of which was hypersonic.

Since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza in October 2023, Yemen has emerged as a pivotal regional actor in the confrontation, aligning itself firmly with the Palestinian resistance. The Yemeni Armed Forces, under the leadership of the Sana'a-based government, have launched a series of strategic military operations—including missile and drone strikes as well as naval and aerial blockades—targeting Israeli-linked infrastructure and shipping routes.

What began with the disruption of maritime traffic in the Red Sea soon evolved into more expansive campaigns, affecting key Israeli economic hubs such as the port of Eilat and Lod Airport. In May 2025, the Yemeni military escalated further by declaring a naval blockade on Haifa Port, a major economic artery for Israel, handling over a third of the country's cargo volume.

These operations form part of Yemen’s declared policy of pressuring Israel to end its war on Gaza and lift the siege. The attacks have triggered widespread disruptions in international shipping, tourism, and air travel, with dozens of global airlines suspending operations to and from Israeli airports.
