Palestine’s official news agency WAFA said two Palestinian youths were injured on Saturday evening by the Israeli occupation forces in the east of the occupied West Bank city of Ariha.
One of them was wounded by live gunfire and another as a result of physical assault, the report added.
“One of the victims sustained a live bullet wound, while the other suffered a head injury due to beating. Both were transferred to hospital for treatment,” the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said.
WAFA also reported that Israeli forces had set up a military checkpoint east of Ariha, where they opened live fire at civilians and assaulted several others.
In another development on Saturday evening, several Palestinians were injured when dozens of Israeli settlers attacked the town of Deir Dibwan, located east of Ramallah.
WAFA said the settlers stormed the eastern entrance of the town and attempted to force their way in while local residents confronted them, which resulted in multiple minor injuries among the Palestinians.
Under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces, the settlers also assaulted Palestinian civilians in an area between the town of Ni’lin and the nearby village of Qibya, west of Ramallah.
Youssef al-Khawaja, head of the Ni’lin municipality, was cited by WAFA as saying that the settlers attacked several Palestinians on their own land, forcing them to leave after releasing their sheep into the fields and destroying agricultural crops.
Khawaja underlined that Ni’lin has been subjected to persistent settler violence, particularly from a nearby outpost established on Palestinian land in the Jabal al-’Alam area, on the outskirts of the town.
In the town of Sa’ir, northeast of al-Khalil, gun-toting Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian farmers as they were tending their land.
The Israeli occupation forces, who arrived to protect the attackers, detained a young Palestinian man while defending the farmers.
The incidents reflect an increasingly systematic pattern of Israeli settlers’ aggression against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, which is carried out with the active backing and passive consent of the Israeli forces.
In April, Israeli settlers conducted 231 attacks involving the vandalism and theft of Palestinian property. The aggression also included the destruction of vast areas of farmland and the uprooting of 1,168 olive trees—530 in Ramallah and al-Bireh, 300 in Nablus, and 298 in Salfit.
The regime has escalated its West Bank violence since October 7, 2023, when it launched its genocide in Gaza. Since then, Israeli forces and settlers have killed about 1,000 Palestinians in the occupied territory.
According to the health ministry of Gaza, at least 54,381 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and over 124,381 individuals injured in the brutal Israeli military onslaught on Gaza since October 7, 2023.
