Israeli Fire Kills Nearly 60 Civilians in Gaza, Many at Aid Site

Israeli Fire Kills Nearly 60 Civilians in Gaza, Many at Aid Site

News - Middle East: The Israeli regime forces have killed nearly 60 Palestinian civilians in the besieged Gaza Strip, at least 17 of whom were trying to get humanitarian aid amid an all-out Israeli blockade and aggression.

Media reports said on Sunday that the latest deaths in the brutal Israeli campaign resulted from separate Israeli strikes in Khan Yunis in the south, Jabalia in the north, and Nuseirat in the central Gaza Strip.

On Al-Bahr Street in northwest Gaza City, at least 15 people were killed and over 100 were injured as they waited for food assistance.

Similar scenes unfolded in Rafah and al-Sudaniya, where Israeli strikes targeted aid seekers, leaving multiple dead and dozens injured.

Two others were killed and more than 50 injured in an Israeli shooting at starving Palestinians near the GHF aid point in Rafah’s al-Mawasi area.

In northern areas like Beit Lahia and al-Tuwam, seven more fatalities were reported. Central Gaza also witnessed bloodshed, with six killed near Deir al-Balah.

In Jabalia, journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda and several family members were killed by an airstrike that hit his house earlier on Sunday.

Another airstrike in Nuseirat killed Ashraf Abu Nar, a senior official in the territory's civil.

The armed wing of the Hamas resistance movement and the Islamic Jihad said in separate statements on Sunday that fighters carried out several ambushes and attacks using bombs and anti-tank rockets against Israeli forces in several areas across Gaza.

The Gaza health ministry said at least 274 people have so far been killed, and more than 2,000 wounded, near aid distribution sites since the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) in the Gaza Strip began operations in Gaza.

The GHF began distributing food packages in Gaza at the end of May, overseeing a new model of aid distribution which the United Nations says is neither impartial nor neutral.

Since the escalation began on October 7, 2023, the death toll in Gaza has risen to 55,297, with over 128,000 injured.

Palestinian resistance groups in a joint statement recently said the real aim behind the US aid distribution centers in Gaza is to dismantle the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, and destroy the Palestinian cause.

The statement emphasized that the aid centers’ moves are aimed at accelerating the forced displacement, ethnic cleansing, and evacuation of the people and residents of Gaza as part of US President Donald Trump’s criminal plans.

The Palestinian resistance groups called for exerting pressure on the Israeli regime and the US government to resume the distribution of relief aid through international UN-affiliated organizations, particularly the UNRWA.

The humanitarian crisis continues to deepen amid the ongoing brutal Israeli campaign in Gaza.
