News- Middle East: Steve Bannon, a political strategist and former advisor to US President Donald Trump, says the Israeli regime agreed to a ceasefire with Iran to “save” itself as the aggression it launched exceeded its capabilities.

In remarks published on Wednesday, Bannon said the US-brokered ceasefire the regime unilaterally accepted “was as much to save Israel.”

“That’s the hidden story here,” Bannon said in an interview. “They bit off way more than they could chew. They were played out as far,” he said, as Iran dealt heavy blows to Israel.

He particularly referred to the final night of Iran’s retaliatory military operation ‘True Promise III’ when a barrage of new-generation missiles was launched at the occupied territories, resulting in many casualties and widespread destruction.

Israeli media reported that at least 11 missiles were launched from Iran in five salvos. At least 8 people were killed and 30 others injured in the retaliatory strikes on Beer Sheba.

Air sirens also sounded in Haifa and areas in the northern part of the occupied territories, and explosions were heard in Tel Aviv and central occupied territories.

“Yesterday was a brutal day for the citizens of Israel, took horrible incomings, particularly in Tel Aviv and I guess Beersheba also,” the prominent media executive and strategist said.

Bannon said Trump brokered the ceasefire “with the help of Qatar,” as the Israeli regime was running out of “defensive ammunition.”

In the early hours of June 13, the Israeli regime launched an all-out aggression on the Iranian soil by targeting various military and nuclear sites, claiming the lives of dozens of top military commanders and nuclear scientists as well as ordinary civilians.

The Iranian armed forces pounded the regime and its military and industrial infrastructure, using many new-generation missiles that efficiently hit the designated targets.

The embattled Israeli regime was forced to unilaterally accept a truce deal on June 24.
