News- Middle East: At least two people have been killed and several others sustained injuries when Israeli unmanned aerial vehicles carried out two separate strikes in southern Lebanon, in the latest flagrant violation of a ceasefire agreement with the Arab nation.

The pan-Arab al-Mayadeen television news channel reported that an Israeli drone targeted a motorcycle in the town of Mahrouna, located approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) south of the capital Beirut, on Saturday evening, killing one individual.

Two people were also injured in the aerial raid. They happened to be the occupants of a car passing by at the time of the attack, according to security sources.

Earlier in the day, the Public Health Emergency Operations Center of Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health said in a statement that an Israeli drone had launched a guided missile at a vehicle in the town of Kounine, the Bint Jbeil district. One person was killed as a result.

A Lebanese security source identified the victim as Hassan Mohammad Jumaa, a member of the Hezbollah resistance movement.

Since the start of the November 27 ceasefire between Tel Aviv and the Lebanese group Hezbollah, Israeli occupation forces have been launching assaults on Lebanon, including airstrikes throughout the Arab nation, breaching the agreement.

On January 27, 2025, Lebanon announced its decision to extend the ceasefire with Israel until February 18.

Although the deadline of February 18 has passed, Israel continues to maintain its occupation of five significant regions in southern Lebanon, namely Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill, all situated near the border.

Lebanon has condemned the continued presence of Israeli military forces, viewing it as a violation of the ceasefire agreement and the established timeline for withdrawal. Senior officials in Beirut have expressed their commitment to take "all necessary measures" to remove the occupying troops from the nation.
