Israel Puts 85 Percent of Gaza Under Forced Displacement Orders: UNRWA

News - Middle East: UNRWA says 85 percent of the besieged Gaza Strip is now within Israeli-militarized zones or under forced displacement orders.

According to the agency’s latest report, more than 714,000 Palestinians have been displaced yet again since Israel violated the ceasefire in March.

The agency also warned that the fuel crisis in Gaza is deepening since no fuel has entered the blockaded Palestinian territory for more than four months.

“The health response in the Gaza Strip continues to face severe operational challenges, including extensive damage to health facilities, obstacles to safe movements and restrictions on the entry of medical supplies and fuel.”

Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN secretary-general, recently said at a news conference that the displacement orders were “severely hampering people's access to essential humanitarian support and the ability of aid workers to reach those in need."

Dujarric said Warning that displacement orders also "strain vital services and push people into increasingly smaller swaths" in the enclave,

He said "no shelter assistance has entered Gaza in four months."

"Our shelter partners say that 97% of the sites surveyed reported displaced people sleeping in the open."

Palestinian and UN officials say that nowhere in the besieged Palestinian territory is safe.

About 90% of the population of the Gaza Strip has been displaced at least once since October 2023, when Israel launched its aggression against Gaza.

Rights groups and Palestinian officials have condemned such forced displacement orders as collective punishment and part of Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on Gaza.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he is “committed” to US President Donald Trump’s controversial proposal to take over the Gaza Strip and displace its Palestinian residents.

The number of Palestinian aid seekers killed by Israeli forces since May 27 in the besieged Gaza Strip has reached 613, according to the UN.

US contractors ostensibly guarding controversial aid distribution sites have been using live ammunition and stun grenades.

More than 57,100 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed in Israeli strikes across Gaza since October 2023. Thousands of victims are feared trapped under rubble, inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to relentless Israeli attacks.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former war minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its war on the blockaded Palestinian region.
