Israel’s Attacks on Iran’s Police Driven by Rage Against Public-Driven Crackdown on Spies: Police Chief

News - Middle East: Iran’s police chief says the Israeli regime’s attacks on the Law Enforcement Force’s facilities throughout the recent Tel Aviv-imposed war were driven by anger over the high level of public cooperation in arresting those spying for the regime.

Brigadier-General Ahmad-Reza Radan made the remarks on Thursday, addressing the attacks that the regime conducted against police premises during its June 13-25 war against the country.

He hailed the public’s extensive contribution to the law enforcement’s identification and ensnarement of potential spies and suspected traitors.

This premium level of cooperation had “infuriated” the Israeli regime, he said, adding that provoking such outrage within the regime’s ranks was a source of pride.

Various Iranian officials, who visited the targeted facilities, have likewise underlined the vengeful nature of the attacks, saying the regime targeted the law enforcement out of grudge.

Radan said the popular cooperation was responsible for 90 percent of the police’s success rate in rounding up Tel Aviv’s spies, collaborators, and those, who had been misled into cooperating with the regime towards enabling sabotage across the Islamic Republic.

He said there was a 40-percent increase in the frequency of the people’s contacts with the law enforcement towards detention of the collaborators throughout the war.

‘Central headquarters set up to identify spies’

The capital Tehran, Radan noted, had begun hosting a special headquarters tasked with managing such cooperation.

The center enjoyed a number of offshoots throughout the country, he stated, and noted that law enforcement forces would show up at locations hosting suspicious activities “within a minute” of being notified.

Radan called on the public to continue reporting any suspicious activities throughout the country, thereby “frustrating the enemy.”

He declined to comment on the number of the arrestees, but said their number was so high that “made the enemy realize that its network of infiltrators within the country has suffered heavy blows just as its military apparatus has.”

The official was referring to the Islamic Republic’s responding to the war with prompt and heavy retaliatory strikes that forced the regime to request a ceasefire.
