The Yemeni Armed Forces are in a state of direct war with the Zionist enemy, which employs all methods of criminal blockade and starvation against two million Palestinians. Thus, Yemen’s reactions toward the entity and the imposition of an aerial and naval blockade fall within a legitimate and just framework.
This was addressed by a Lebanese economic expert during an interview with Almasirah channel, affirming that the enemy has become utterly incapable of dealing with Yemen’s suffocating measures.
From a legal standpoint regarding Yemen’s operations, the Lebanese economic expert Hassan Sarour argued that "Yemen’s actions stem from the state of hostility between it and the occupying entity, fully aligning with maritime law. Maritime law explicitly states that in the event of an armed conflict between two states, each state has the right to intercept the other’s ships and any cargo that could strengthen the enemy or pose a threat to the other state."
He stated, "Yemen is in a clear and open state of war and conflict with the Zionist enemy entity, and thus it has the right to intercept any ship supporting the Zionist enemy." He added, "Yemen considers the occupying entity an enemy and is in a state of conflict, so it has the right to take all necessary actions."
Sarour emphasizes that "Yemen’s actions do not violate maritime law, as Yemen is in a state of military and armed conflict, granting it the right to inspect and halt all ships, preventing them from sailing to the Zionist enemy."
He points out that "if Yemen had mistakenly targeted any innocent ship dealing with the entity, the world would have erupted in outrage—yet this has not happened at all."
Sarour notes that "Yemen’s strength has prevailed, forcing the Americans to withdraw from the battle and leave the Zionist entity on its own." He asserts that Yemen’s recent operations in the Red Sea have made the world realize that "Yemen is not joking but is steadfastly pursuing its path and implementing its decisions."
Concluding his remarks, he said: "This is a source of pride for the Yemeni people and the [Islamic] nation—that Yemen fully imposes its conditions on the world’s largest shipping companies, and no country dares to act." He highlights Yemen’s maritime dominance after displacing the American enemy from its role of protecting the Zionist entity and its maritime pursuits.
Comprehensive and Devastating Economic Impacts:
On another note, Sarour discusses the economic repercussions of Yemen’s operations, noting that "the marine insurance sector has been compelled to suspend coverage for all ships associated with the Zionist entity. This has direct and indirect effects on the economic situation and supply chains to the occupying entity."
He confirmed that "the direct impacts began in the first days of the Yemeni blockade 20 months ago, with insurance costs gradually rising by over 200%, alongside steep increases in food prices and shipping rates, leading to consecutive and significant price surges for goods within the entity."
He highlighted the sharp and notable rise in marine insurance costs for ships dealing with the enemy entity following Yemen’s two latest operations, stressing that "this will push all global shipping companies to thoroughly reconsider before insuring any vessel bound for the entity, potentially leading the enemy into a worse situation."
He continued: "Now, insurance companies are stating they will not compensate firms whose ships sank after misrepresenting their cargo."
Sarour noted that "companies will no longer risk their interests by dealing with this entity, further isolating the enemy internationally at sea, following its aerial isolation."
He asserted that "Yemen’s operations will drive out the remaining foreign investments in occupied Palestine, particularly in the technology sector, which accounts for over half of the enemy’s exports and employs more than 400,000 workers."
He explained that major tech investment firms, with exports worth $25 billion, have announced halting operations and withdrawing from occupied Palestine—a severe blow to the entity’s economy.
"The snowball will grow larger with time, and the enemy will find itself increasingly besieged," he said, clarifying that "Yemen’s operations have created an atmosphere of insecurity, not only for investors but also for Zionist settlers."
He mentioned that "over 6,000 specialized tech workers have left the Zionist entity, representing a significant blow."
Hassan Sarour concluded his remarks by noting that Yemen’s operations have created a mix of crises for the enemy on economic, security, political, and military levels.
