News - Middle East: Palestinian writer Khaled Barakat, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, has affirmed that Yemen’s honorable stance in supporting the Palestinian people—despite its own war, siege, and difficult conditions—represents a qualitative shift in the struggle against the Zionist-American project.

Speaking during a Zoom meeting with student and youth cadres, Barakat emphasized that Yemen has restored Palestine to its rightful place as the central cause of the Arab and Islamic peoples.

He pointed out that this strategic role played by Yemen would not have been possible "without the sacrifices and internal victories achieved over 20 years of steadfast struggle." He also highlighted Yemen’s realization of its strategic role and location within the regional and global map, under the wise revolutionary leadership of Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, which paved the way for this role.

Barakat added that "Yemen’s internal strength is reflected in its external role," praising the “courageous resistance” shown by the Yemeni people and Armed Forces in confronting the "American-Zionist alliance." He considered Yemen’s direct engagement in supporting Palestinian resistance a reflection of a clear political and ideological revolutionary stance.

He said Yemen had managed to present a “living model” for peoples in the region and around the world, showing their capacity for action—so long as they possess revolutionary organization and homegrown political will, guided by a principled revolutionary and moral compass.

At a time when "Arab regimes are sailing toward normalization and subjugation to the Zionist project," Barakat stressed that "Yemen’s ship sailed against the current of defeat, despite all the storms it faced." In doing so, Yemen has redirected the compass toward the core of the struggle, reaffirming that resistance and popular unity in support of just causes is "the only true path to break Western hegemony," not "the path of slavery, surrender, and normalization."

Since the onset of the Israeli war on Gaza, Yemen has emerged as one of the most vocal and active supporters of the Palestinian cause, both rhetorically and militarily. Despite facing its own war, humanitarian crisis, and years of blockade, Yemen has leveraged its strategic position and revolutionary leadership to challenge Israeli and Western dominance in the region. Under the leadership of Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, Yemen has not only taken symbolic stances but has also implemented direct action—such as naval and aerial embargoes on Israeli-linked infrastructure and support for the Palestinian resistance.

This shift has reignited interest in Yemen’s role in the Arab-Israeli conflict and reshaped how regional solidarity is understood. While many Arab regimes move toward normalization with Israel, Yemen has charted a path of active resistance.
