Atwan Mocks Arab Condemnations: Yemen Supports Palestine with Missiles, Resolve

News - Yemen: Political analyst Abd al-Bari Atwan, Editor-in-Chief of London-based Rai Al-Youm newspaper, affirmed that Yemen has taken a comprehensive and unwavering stance in support of the Palestinian people—in stark contrast to Arab states limited to hollow condemnations.

During an interview with Almasirah channel discussing the famine in Gaza and the Arab-Islamic response, Atwan highlighted Yemen’s resolute backing of Palestine, praising its announcement of a fourth phase of naval blockade against the Zionist enemy.

He stated that this new phase could prove the most consequential yet, as Yemeni missiles will now target not only vessels bound for occupied territories but all ships affiliated with companies dealing with the Israeli entity.

Atwan described Yemen’s move as a "critical turning point in the conflict", alongside its hypersonic missiles that have shuttered Ben Gurion Airport (Lod) and reached the ports of Ashdod, Eilat (Umm Al-Rashrash), and Ashkelon—with Haifa next in range.

Emphasizing Yemen’s unparalleled commitment, he noted: "Yemen alone stands in the trenches of Palestinian resistance—defending Palestine with missiles, popular mobilization, marches, and steadfastness, not mere condemnations like Arab regimes."

Unlike nations fearing confrontation, Yemen understands that full-throated support for Gaza through action is imperative, Atwan added. He quoted Hamas' official Khalil Hayya’s praise: "This is the great Yemen he lauded—the only nation worthy of such acclaim."

Concluding his remarks, Atwan urged: "The peoples of Egypt, Jordan, and all nations bordering Palestine must rise in protests demanding bread for Gaza. Condemnations are empty words—a mockery of the starving."

he Yemeni Armed Forces have announced the launch of a new phase in their naval blockade against the Zionist entity, targeting all ships belonging to companies that deal with ports in occupied Palestine, regardless of the company's nationality or the ship’s destination.

In a statement, Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sare'e declared: "The Yemeni Armed Forces have decided to escalate their military support operations and implement the fourth phase of the naval blockade on the enemy. This phase includes targeting all ships belonging to any company that deals with Israeli ports—regardless of the company's nationality and wherever our forces can reach them."

These actions are framed as part of a broader Yemeni strategy to enforce an aerial and naval blockade on the Israeli enemy in response to its war crimes and humanitarian blockade of Gaza. By continually threatening key points in occupied Palestine, the Yemeni forces aim to create both material and psychological pressure to halt the assault on Gaza and open humanitarian corridors.

The Government Media Office of Gaza has issued a warning regarding an unparalleled humanitarian disaster, indicating that over 100,000 children, among them 40,000 infants, are at risk of life-threatening hunger as a result of the blockade.

The overall death count resulting from starvation and malnutrition has currently reached 122, including 83 children, and it is projected to escalate rapidly as the siege and the closure of crossings persist.

In the meantime, United Nations agencies and humanitarian organizations have issued critical alerts indicating that therapeutic food for children suffering from severe malnutrition is on the verge of depletion, putting the lives of thousands of the most vulnerable individuals in jeopardy.

At least 59,733 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and another 144,477 individuals injured in the brutal Israeli onslaught on Gaza since October 7, 2023.
