Leader of US Aid Group in Gaza Hails Hitler; Vilifies Islam, Palestinians

News- Middle East: A US-linked aid mission in the besieged Gaza Strip faces backlash after a former Green Beret and head of partner group Sentinel Foundation praised Adolf Hitler, vilified Palestinians and Islam, and pushed extremist Christian views.

The disclosures have sparked concerns about the underlying ideology driving American-supported mission in the Palestinian territory.

The so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) is facing scrutiny after revelations that Matthew Murphy, president of its partner Sentinel Foundation and a former Green Beret, has publicly praised Hitler, denigrated Palestinians, and espoused extremist Christian beliefs, said a report published in The Grayzone news website on Thursday.

Murphy’s social media posts described Hitler as a “devout Christian” and celebrated Nazi economic policies, while in a podcast, he referred to Palestine as “a little shithole” and Islam as inherently violent.

“Killing and beheading and raping and treating, you know, Christian and Jewish women as lesser-than and slaves is not just something terrorists think, it’s Islam,” he alleged in an interview, adding, “Palestine is a little shit hole with no exports, no oil, nothing.”

Murphy also claimed to lead “manhunting” operations in Africa, saying that he performs daily exorcisms instead of practicing medicine, aligning with a fringe Christian warrior movement deeply embedded in US military veteran networks.

The Sentinel Foundation, closely tied to the controversial GHF, has operated alongside private military contractors UG Solutions and Safe Reach Solutions (SRS) to purportedly distribute aid in Gaza.

These groups, despite branding themselves as humanitarian, are actually led by ex-CIA and Special Forces personnel and are funded and promoted through politically connected channels, the report added.

According to the United Nations, GHF’s distribution efforts coincide with deadly Israeli attacks on Palestinians near aid sites, with over 674 civilians killed outside distribution zones as of mid-July.

However, despite bipartisan skepticism in Congress, the US State Department has pledged $30 million in retroactive support for GHF’s June activities.

Murphy, who helped extract Americans from Gaza with assistance from Senators Lindsey Graham and Markwayne Mullin, has a history of provocative rhetoric and controversial associations.

He previously ran Operation Light Shine, a counter-trafficking nonprofit that drew concern from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for vigilante-like behavior.

According to the report, Murphy made inflammatory claims about Islam and Palestinians, likening the current treatment of white Westerners to that of Jews in Nazi Germany during interviews.

The Sentinel Foundation and its founders — including ex-Delta Force intelligence officer Glenn Devitt and former Special Forces member Jameson Govoni — have longstanding connections to evangelical counter-trafficking and spiritual warfare circles.

Sentinel’s growing influence in international hotspots raises concerns about the militarization of humanitarian aid and the ideological agendas driving it.

Since May, Israeli forces have killed more than 1,330 Palestinian aid seekers, and over 8,818 others have been wounded in Israeli attacks, mainly at the GHF distribution sites run by the United States.

Israel unleashed its Gaza genocide on October 7, 2023, after the Hamas resistance group carried out its historic operation against the occupying entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

The Tel Aviv regime has so far failed to achieve its declared objectives of eliminating Hamas and freeing all captives in Gaza, despite killing 60,138 Palestinians, mostly women, and children, and injuring 146,269 others.
