Maersk Raises Emergency Fees as Yemeni Naval Blockade Hits Israel-linked Red Sea Shipping

News - Middle East: The Yemeni naval blockade against the Zionist enemy has once again driven up maritime shipping costs, following an announcement by a leading pro-Israel shipping company that it will impose new fees due to operations in the Red Sea.

International media outlets circulated a brief statement from Maersk, a major maritime shipping company known for its support of the Israeli entity, announcing it will increase what it calls “Emergency Contingency Fees.” These are additional charges on top of already soaring freight and insurance costs that have multiplied since Yemen began its deterrent operations.

Maersk cited the “ongoing situation in the Red Sea” as the reason for this new fee hike—a clear reference to Yemeni naval operations and the blockade imposed on Israel-linked vessels and companies.

This announcement comes just days after Yemen declared the start of the fourth phase of its naval blockade, signaling that the Zionist entity will face even greater difficulties as Yemen tightens its grip.

Since the outbreak of Israel’s war on Gaza in October 2023, Yemen has intensified its military and economic pressure on the Zionist entity through a sustained naval blockade campaign. The Yemeni Armed Forces, aligning with the broader Axis of Resistance, have launched a series of escalating operations in the Red Sea and surrounding waters, targeting vessels associated with Israel or companies that support its economy.

On July 27, 2025, Yemen announced the start of the fourth phase of its naval blockade, expanding the scope of operations to include any ship affiliated with firms doing business with Israeli ports, regardless of nationality or location.
