The international humanitarian organization stated early Friday that these attacks occurred inside aid distribution sites run by the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,” constituting a targeted assault rather than random gunfire, and placed full responsibility on the Israeli occupation.
MSF reported that its medical teams in Gaza treated 1,380 wounded individuals and received 28 bodies — all victims of shootings in the vicinity of humanitarian aid distribution points in southern Gaza, particularly in Khan Younis, over recent days.
The most common injuries were direct gunshots to knees, legs, and feet. Medical examinations showed that the bullets were fired with the purpose of disabling rather than deterring or dispersing. The fact that these incidents occurred inside designated aid sites rules out any possibility of accidental fire.
The organization stressed that such systematic killing and maiming constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and amount to a full-fledged war crime — especially since the targeted locations were recognized humanitarian aid zones that should be protected under international law.
In an exceptional move, MSF called for halting aid distribution via the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,” describing it as a “death trap” used to lure unarmed civilians before shooting them.
It also urged donor countries to stop funding this entity, saying it actively contributes to sustaining a system of starvation and humiliation inflicted on Gaza’s population.
The statement emphasized that Gaza is currently enduring an institutionalized starvation policy and degradation of human dignity, and that the continuation of such distribution mechanisms only worsens the crisis, increasing the number of people killed and injured while searching for food or medicine.
MSF called for aid to be rerouted to independent and trustworthy international organizations, such as the Red Cross and the Palestinian Red Crescent, and for an end to reliance on distribution mechanisms tied to or supported by the Israeli occupation — mechanisms that do not protect civilians but instead expose them to direct killing.
This testimony reveals one of the most dangerous forms of slow-motion genocide unfolding in Gaza under siege and aggression.
What should be a symbol of hope — humanitarian aid — has instead become a deadly snare where the hungry and desperate are drawn in, only to be brutally targeted.
Amid this grim reality, international demands are mounting to end this criminal mechanism and pressure the Israeli occupation to allow aid deliveries through safe, neutral channels that preserve the remaining dignity and right to life of Palestinians under siege.
