News - Yemen: A Palestinian writer and researcher affirmed that Yemen’s alignment between official and popular stances is rare in the Arab world, with the Yemeni state providing substantial political and military support to the Palestinian cause — a unique case compared to the official positions of many other Arab states.

Saleh Abu Azzah told Al-Masirah that the international response to the Zionist aggression in Gaza is divided between a growing popular stance supportive of Palestine, and an official European-American stance marked by hypocrisy and a lack of genuine action.

He described the global popular movement as both encouraging and remarkable, noting near-million marches in capitals such as Tokyo, major cities in Australia, and across Europe. He stressed that this growing momentum reflects a clear rejection of the Zionist occupation and condemnation of its genocide in Gaza, urging the movement to continue as a constant source of pressure on governments to adopt serious and decisive positions.

Abu Azzah sharply criticized the European and American official stance, stressing that Europe — despite possessing strong leverage over the Zionist entity — refrains from taking decisive measures. He identified three main means of pressure available to Europe: being a primary supplier of weapons and military equipment to the occupation, serving as a key economic and trade partner, and functioning as a major transit hub for “Israeli” goods.

He said European governments act hypocritically, attempting to absorb public anger through timid statements while avoiding real action that would strip the Zionist entity of legitimacy.

Abu Azzah added that the occupation’s propaganda, which initially succeeded after October 7 in convincing Europeans that the Palestinian resistance had committed war crimes, has completely collapsed. Allegations such as killing children and raping women were never proven and were refuted by international bodies. In contrast, images and recordings from Gaza have exposed some of the most heinous Zionist crimes in history, causing a major shift in public opinion — from supporting the enemy to sympathizing with and backing the Palestinian resistance.

Since late 2023, Yemen’s Armed Forces have dramatically escalated their military operations in response to the Israeli enemy's war on Gaza and the broader US.-British support for it. As part of their declared solidarity with the Palestinian people, Yemen has launched a sustained campaign targeting Israel-linked ships in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and beyond—expanding its strategy to include aerial and maritime blockades on the Israeli entity.

Recently, Israeli enemy’s war cabinet on Friday approved a military blueprint to capture Gaza City and tighten its grip on the besieged strip—an area it has relentlessly bombarded for months. 

The Israeli entity has been facing mounting outrage over its destructive war on Gaza, where it has killed more than 61,300 people since October 2023. The genocidal war has devastated the besieged strip and brought it to the verge of famine.
