Bloody Night in Gaza: 17 Martyred as Israeli Strikes Target Civilians and Aid Seekers

News - Middle East: Gaza witnessed a bloody night as Zionist airstrikes focused on the eastern regions of the enclave, particularly the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood.

According to Almasirah channel correspondent in Gaza, Doaa Rouqa, the intense Zionist aerial and artillery attacks resulted in the martyrdom of at least 17 Palestinians, most from the Arhim and Al-Hussary families, with search operations ongoing for missing individuals under the rubble.

Rouqa added in her report that continuous bombardment, alongside heavy reconnaissance drone activity, triggered mass displacement from the area. Rescue and civil defense teams struggled to reach targeted zones due to the severity of the strikes and widespread destruction, awaiting Red Cross coordination to recover bodies and evacuate the wounded.

Targeting Aid Seekers and Worsening Humanitarian Crisis
These developments coincided with attacks on other areas in Gaza, including zones Israel had classified as "humanitarian." The correspondent reported strikes on displaced persons' tents in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, killing and injuring several.

Another massacre targeted humanitarian aid seekers, with around 15 martyred near the Zikim military axis and aid distribution centers. Rouqa stressed that these areas have become "death traps for Palestinians" rather than aid hubs.

On the humanitarian front, she warned of worsening famine and drinking water shortages, noting that the minimal aid entering Gaza via crossings falls far short of meeting population needs. Some supplies were unfit for consumption, causing poisoning cases among children, with the health system deteriorating daily.

Recently, Israel’s military claimed responsibility for the attack on Sunday, which killed Al Jazeera correspondents Anas al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqeh, cameramen Ibrahim Zaher and Moamen Aliwa, and their assistant Mohammed Noufal.

The Israeli military’s Sunday attack was the latest to see journalists targeted in the 22-month war on Gaza.

Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed over 230 journalists, making it the deadliest war for media workers ever recorded.

At least 61,499 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and another 153,575 individuals injured in the brutal Israeli onslaught on Gaza since October 7, 2023, according to the health ministry of Gaza.
