News - Yemen: The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Security Council, Vasily Nebenzya, acknowledged on Tuesday the connection between the operations of the Yemeni Armed Forces and the events in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement to international media, Nebenzya said: “We remind everyone that the attacks in the Red Sea are a result of the Israeli military operations in Gaza," stressing that the Israeli operation in Gaza and the siege imposed on the Strip are leading to escalation in the Red Sea.

He emphasized that a ceasefire in Gaza is essential to calm the situation in the region, and affirmed that defending the Palestinian cause is important, especially as the people of Gaza are enduring severe suffering.

Since the outbreak of Israel’s war on Gaza in October 2023, Yemen has intensified its military and economic pressure on the Zionist entity through a sustained naval blockade campaign. The Yemeni Armed Forces, aligning with the broader Axis of Resistance, have launched a series of escalating operations in the Red Sea and surrounding waters, targeting vessels associated with Israel or companies that support its economy.
