News - Yemen: Yemen's President, Mahdi Al-Mashat, reaffirmed Yemen’s unwavering support for the people, army, and resistance of Lebanon in confronting the Zionist enemy and achieving victory, dignity, and honor for both the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples.

In a congratulatory cable to the Lebanese people, army, and resistance marking the 19th anniversary of the great victory in the 2006 war, President Al-Mashat warned that current political and media campaigns aimed at disarming the resistance are part of a calculated Zionist strategy to strip it of its popular base and leave Lebanon exposed to enemy ambitions.

Al-Mashat stressed that the unity of Lebanon’s people, army, and resistance during the 2006 war made the country a formidable force—one that Israel and its allies now seek to weaken by fueling sectarian divisions. Marking the 19th anniversary of that victory, he urged all parties to rise to the level of national responsibility.

Tensions in Lebanon have deepened following the government’s recent endorsement of a US-backed proposal to disarm Hezbollah by the end of 2025. 

The decision has drawn sharp condemnation from the resistance movement, which labeled it a “grave sin” and warned it would leave the country vulnerable to Israeli aggression. 

Hezbollah pointed to Israel’s continued occupation of Lebanese territory and near-daily violations of the November 2024 ceasefire as evidence that disarmament would only serve the enemy’s interests. 

The group has vowed to ignore the government’s resolution, while maintaining readiness for dialogue on a broader national security strategy—conditional on Israel first honoring agreements and fully withdrawing from Lebanese lands.
