Lebanese MP: Resistance Will Not Disarm, Praises Yemen’s Strategic Role

News - Middle East: Member of the Loyalty to the Lebanese Resistance Bloc, MP Rami Abu Hamdan, affirmed that all ongoing disputes in Lebanon, across its sects, stem from the schemes of the Israeli and American enemies.

Speaking on Saturday, Abu Hamdan noted that the recent confrontation between the Israeli enemy and Hezbollah was extremely fierce, stressing that the battle was not Lebanon versus Israel alone, but rather Hezbollah facing the combined forces of the world—just as the people of Gaza do.

He explained that the Americans established a fully operational air bridge to supply Israel with the deadliest weapons and bombs to use against Lebanon and Gaza, emphasizing that the Lebanese people have long understood that when the Israeli and American enemies fail militarily, they turn to politics and diplomacy.

Abu Hamdan pointed out that successive Lebanese governments have failed to protect the people of the south from Israeli aggression, highlighting the American decision that prevents the Lebanese army from acquiring any weapons capable of threatening Israel. He stressed that the Israeli enemy understands only the language of force.

He clarified that the decision to support the Palestinian people against Israeli aggression was taken at the very start of the Gaza assault, adding that during the 66 days of war, the Israeli enemy was unable to advance into any Lebanese border town. He underlined that there is a vital distinction between deterrence power and the power of resistance.

According to him, Hezbollah and the Lebanese resistance had already reached a strong deterrence base before the war, similar to 2006, and proved in the recent confrontation that their strength remains intact—something the Israeli enemy deeply fears.

We are not in a position of weakness to surrender our weapons:

He accused the Lebanese government of committing a crime against Lebanon and the resistance, noting that by aligning with the American push for disarmament, it is effectively executing American, Israeli, and Arab orders aimed at eliminating Hezbollah altogether.

“We will not surrender our weapons; we are not weak, and we will not compromise on our duty to defend our homeland,” he vowed, stressing that arms would not be abandoned so long as the Lebanese army remains forbidden from possessing weapons to defend the country.

Abu Hamdan emphasized that the forces capable of creating a decisive shift in the regional balance regarding Palestine and Lebanon are two main poles: the Islamic Republic of Iran and Yemen.

He praised the Yemeni people’s strong adherence to Islam and the Quran, lauding Yemen for not standing idle toward Gaza despite being thousands of kilometers away, while many Arab countries closer to Palestine not only failed to act but even assisted the Israeli enemy.

He underscored Yemen’s growing role in threatening Israel’s backers, expecting that Yemen will soon play a pivotal strategic role in shaping the regional balance, particularly concerning Palestine.

Abu Hamdan concluded: “It is enough for us in Lebanon to feel the support of a faithful, sincere, strong, and courageous brother like Yemen, which acts on what it says. Yemen will be among those shaping a bright future for the region—one of liberation for Gaza, Palestine, and all the oppressed peoples.”

Tensions in Lebanon have deepened following the government’s recent endorsement of a US-backed proposal to disarm Hezbollah by the end of 2025.

The decision has drawn sharp condemnation from the resistance movement, which labeled it a “grave sin” and warned it would leave the country vulnerable to Israeli aggression.

Hezbollah pointed to Israel’s continued occupation of Lebanese territory and near-daily violations of the November 2024 ceasefire as evidence that disarmament would only serve the enemy’s interests.

The group has vowed to ignore the government’s resolution, while maintaining readiness for dialogue on a broader national security strategy—conditional on Israel first honoring agreements and fully withdrawing from Lebanese lands.
