Gaza’s Government Media Office said in a statement that Israel continues to implement “a systematic policy of engineered starvation and slow killing against more than 2.4 million people in Gaza, including more than 1.2 million Palestinian children, in a complete crime of genocide.”
The statement stressed that the main victims of the crime are children and sick people.
“More than 40,000 infants (under one year old) are suffering severe malnutrition, and their lives are threatened by gradual death,” the media office said, adding that more than 100,000 children and patients are also undergoing the same situation.
It underlined that Israel continues to prevent the entry of baby formula, nutritional supplements, and hundreds of other essential items, including frozen meat, fish, cheese, dairy products, and frozen fruits and vegetables into the besieged strip.
According to a UN report one in every five children in Gaza is malnourished.
Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) recently said that more than 40,000 children had either been killed or injured following Israel's genocidal war and an all-out blockade of Gaza.
At least 57 Palestinians, including 14 aid seekers, were killed and scores injured since Sunday dawn .
During the same period, at least seven people have starved to death, bringing the total number of hunger-related deaths to 258, including 110 children.
Since the start of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023, the death toll has exceeded 61,900, the majority of them women and children.
