News - Yemen: The General People’s Congress (GPC) strongly condemned the recent Israeli attacks on infrastructure and service facilities in Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, describing them as criminal acts.

In a statement, the party criticized Israel for targeting the Haziz power plant, which resulted in the facility going out of service and deprived residents of Sana’a and surrounding areas of essential electricity needed to operate hospitals, water pumps, and other vital public services.

The GPC emphasized that such attacks will not deter Yemenis from supporting the Palestinian people and the residents of Gaza, nor from rejecting Israel’s war crimes, including systematic starvation and forced displacement aimed at erasing the Palestinian cause. The statement affirmed that these efforts will fail due to the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.

The party also renewed its criticism of the international community’s silence over Israeli crimes against Gaza and Yemen, describing it as a blatant violation of international law and humanitarian norms. The GPC called on the United Nations and other international organizations to fulfill their responsibilities by pressuring Israel to halt attacks on Gaza and its infrastructure in Yemen.

The strikes on the Haziz power plant come amid heightened tensions following Yemen’s continued military operations against Israeli and US-linked targets in the Red Sea and occupied territories. Sana’a frames these operations as part of its broader support for Palestinians, while emphasizing resilience against Israeli attacks on Yemeni infrastructure. The international community has been criticized for failing to respond to both Israeli aggession in Gaza and strikes affecting Yemeni civilian facilities.
