In a new report, Al-Monitor highlighted the scale of US military losses during the Red Sea confrontations, describing them as the most intense naval clashes for America since World War II. The report confirmed that “Red Sea operations drained the US Navy’s stockpiles of advanced interceptor missiles and weakened its overall readiness.”
According to the outlet, the Pentagon has now allocated approximately $3.5 billion for the next fiscal year to replenish interceptor stockpiles and repair air-defense and radar systems — a measure underscoring the extent of US losses in what has been widely viewed as a failed campaign to shield the Israeli entity.
The report comes in the wake of numerous American analyses pointing to the far-reaching consequences of Washington’s setbacks at sea, including a blow to US military credibility, global influence, and the reputation of its weaponry, which Yemeni forces exposed as vulnerable.
Recent American assessments also noted that the US military is exploring a strategic shift in response to Yemen’s tactics — prioritizing cost-effective drone stockpiles over expensive conventional systems that have proven less effective in the conflict. Analysts argue that Yemen’s resistance has forced Washington to reconsider decades-old doctrines of military dominance.
Since late 2023, Yemen’s Armed Forces have conducted sustained operations in the Red Sea and against Israeli enemy targets, declaring them part of their solidarity campaign with Gaza.
These operations have not only disrupted Israeli shipping and air travel but also dragged the United States into direct confrontation.
Despite deploying advanced warships and missile systems, Washington has failed to halt Yemeni strikes, exposing vulnerabilities in US defense systems and reshaping regional power dynamics.
