Five US F-35 Fighters Seen Landing in Puerto Rico Amid Rising Tensions with Nearby Venezuela

News- World: Five F-35 fighter jets from the US have been spotted landing in Puerto Rico following President Donald Trump's recent order to deploy 10 of these stealth fighters to bolster military presence in the Caribbean, amidst escalating tensions with Venezuela.

The advanced fighter jets were observed on Saturday arriving at the former Roosevelt Roads military base in Ceiba, Puerto Rico.

In the days leading up to their arrival, there has been a notable military buildup at the base, characterized by an increased deployment of US helicopters, Osprey aircraft, and various transport planes alongside additional military personnel.

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth made an unannounced visit to Puerto Rico earlier this week, as media reports suggested a possible imminent US military action against Venezuela.

Responding to these speculations, a Pentagon spokesman stated, "We have no force posture changes to announce at this time."

The developments come as the US military recently boarded a Venezuelan fishing vessel following a fatal strike on another boat, which was alleged to be transporting illegal drugs to the US

The government in Caracas has insisted that none of the eleven Venezuelans killed in the US strike were involved in drug trafficking.

Venezuelan officials claim that Washington is attempting to orchestrate a "regime change" to oust President Nicolas Maduro.

In a stark escalation, last month, the US doubled its reward for information leading to Maduro's capture from $25 million to $50 million.

In response, Maduro reaffirmed Venezuela's commitment to defend its territorial waters, stating, "We’re ready for an armed fight, if necessary."

On Thursday, he announced the deployment of troops, police, and civilian militias across 284 "battlefront" locations, further enhancing military readiness along the border with Colombia.

Venezuela’s leftist leader, on Thursday, announced the deployment of troops, police, and civilian militias across 284 “battlefront” locations, reinforcing previous troop increases along the Colombian border.
