Al-Masawi stressed that the revolution succeeded in restoring national decision-making and sovereignty, which had long been seized by regional and international powers. Before the revolution, he noted, Yemen’s sovereignty was compromised, with US and Saudi ambassadors intervening in its most sensitive affairs, while American drones freely violated Yemeni airspace and targeted civilians with impunity — a situation he described as indirect occupation.
One of the revolution’s most notable achievements, al-Masawi said, was the expulsion of US forces from the American embassy, calling it a “humiliating and defeated exit.” He argued this demonstrated the stark difference between post-revolution Yemen, capable of confronting global powers, and other Arab regimes that he described as submissive to US and Israeli enemy dictates.
He added that the revolution built a strong military institution that transformed Yemen from a weak state into a regional force, now engaging in direct confrontations with major world powers. Al-Masawi emphasized that the revolution’s primary goal of reclaiming sovereignty and independent decision-making has been achieved, with Yemen now able to assert control over its territorial waters and launch strategic missile strikes against aggressor states.
While acknowledging some shortcomings, such as excessive leniency toward remnants of the former regime that allowed new internal conspiracies to emerge, al-Masawi said the September 21 Revolution has withstood enormous challenges — from the 18-nation coalition war to economic warfare and internal plots.
He warned that the revolution today faces even greater international pressures due to Yemen’s support for Palestine and opposition to global hegemony. Al-Masawi urged vigilance against internal threats and unity behind the leader of the revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi, affirming that Yemen’s resilience will continue until the complete liberation of the country from occupiers and their proxies.
Prior to the September 21 Revolution, the American ambassador was the primary decision-maker, imposing his authority in all sectors in Yemen. However, following the revolution, the American ambassador fled Yemen, along with the US Marines, who had a base near the American embassy in Sana’a, which served as a control center for political decision-making in the country.
Since the revolution, the Yemeni people have experienced freedom and independence. One of the revolution's main goals was to preserve Yemen's national identity, particularly in the face of foreign interference targeting the faith-based values of the Yemeni people.
