Speaking on Al-Masirah TV, Al-Ahnoumi said the revolution “was not merely a political event or a popular uprising, but a conscious response to the demands of a stage that peaked in 2011 and 2012, when Yemenis realized that change had become a necessity, not a choice.”
He emphasized that the true alternative did not lie in foreign initiatives but in an internal project derived from Yemen’s faith and Qur’anic identity. “The people experienced the failures of previous revolutions, such as February 11, which ended in Gulf Initiative negotiations controlled externally and undermined internally. This revolution carried a clear vision, wise leadership, and a population committed to liberation and sovereignty,” he said.
Freedom and Independence: The Foundation of the Civilizational Project
Al-Ahnoumi described freedom and independence as the first steps toward rebuilding Yemen’s dignity and faith-based civilization. He noted that Yemenis launched the revolution to reclaim national decision-making from foreign control, which had reached the point of being administered by ten foreign ambassadors, led by the US envoy, who “acted as president over the president and elder over the sheikhs.”
He stressed that the revolution was not merely about overthrowing a regime, but establishing a system guided by Qur’anic methodology, with a roadmap to build a strong and just state, end foreign dependency, and cement popular sovereignty.
Wise Leadership: Key to Victory
Al-Ahnoumi highlighted the role of revolutionary leadership, particularly Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, as decisive for the revolution’s success despite extensive international and regional conspiracies. He noted that Houthi’s speeches, from initial warning marches to the final decision to act, serve as historical documents demonstrating the revolution’s logic and depth.
“Unlike other revolutions, September 21 did not kill its own people or even its opponents, but offered a shared national project, creating rare balance between Yemen’s internal dynamics and its broader Arab and Islamic context,” he added.
Defeating External Fragmentation Plans
The revolution thwarted plans to divide Yemen into competing cantons under an American-Zionist project aimed at fragmenting the region under the “New Middle East” banner. Al-Ahnoumi said the early exposure and prevention of this project proved Yemen’s ability to withstand pressure and even lead a liberation project extending to Palestine and other Arab causes.
“The Jews and the Zionists recognized early on that a Yemeni revolution with this awareness and leadership could not be underestimated, which explains their early fears of Yemen playing a central role in supporting Palestine,” he said.
Revolution Continues
Al-Ahnoumi concluded that the revolution remains ongoing. Achievements so far — from breaking foreign tutelage and achieving independence to building state institutions and resisting aggression — are just the first steps toward constructing the “faith-based civilization” envisioned by the revolutionary leadership.
He added: “Today’s empowerment, battlefield victories, and unprecedented popular support for the leadership reflect awareness, revolution, and the divine promise that the oppressed will inherit the land, dignity, and sovereignty.”
The September 21 Revolution of 2014 was a turning point in Yemen’s modern history, ending decades of foreign control and corruption. Guided by Ansarullah, it restored national sovereignty, promoted a faith-based civilizational vision, and rejected external domination.
Since 2015, Yemen has faced a US- Saudi aggression aimed at suppressing the revolution, yet it has strengthened its military capabilities and continued supporting Palestine against the Israeli enemy. The revolution has enabled Yemen to defend its independence, resist occupation, and counter regional fragmentation plans imposed by foreign powers.
