On 11th Anniversary of September 21 Revolution, Broad Political Support in Yemen for 'Liberation Path', Its Leadership

Yemen: Senior Yemeni officials, governors, and political parties marked the 11th anniversary of the September 21 Revolution with statements of loyalty and renewed commitment, hailing the movement as a turning point that restored Yemen’s sovereignty and ended decades of foreign tutelage.

In congratulatory messages addressed to the leader of the revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi and the Yemeni people, ministers, governors, and institutional leaders described the revolution as the “gateway to true independence,” asserting that it returned Yemen to its historic place of dignity while cutting the influence of the United States and Saudi Arabia.

Officials stressed that the revolution not only ended external domination but also positioned Yemen on the frontline of confronting what they termed the “American and Zionist enemies,” highlighting its support for just causes of the Muslim nation, foremost among them the Palestinian struggle.

Political Parties’ Endorsement

The Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) affirmed in a joint message that the September 21 Revolution embodied the free will of the Yemeni people, dismantled foreign guardianship, and entrenched national sovereignty. They said the sacrifices made in the revolution and the subsequent decade of war had elevated Yemen into a “decisive regional actor” capable of shaping outcomes and standing firmly with Gaza “regardless of challenges.”

The Popular Nasserist Correction Organization described the revolution as the force that shattered all forms of dependency and subservience, stating that Yemen’s revolutionary stance now extends into regional waters where it confronts US and European fleets to enforce blockades on the Zionist entity. The group called the decision to back Gaza a “strategic move that placed Yemen in a position of regional leadership.”

Meanwhile, the Southern Movement (part of the National Dialogue Conference) issued a statement recognizing the revolution as a “strategic and pivotal event in Yemen’s modern history.” The group emphasized its role in preserving Yemen’s dignity against what it described as “US-Zionist aggression and their regional allies,” while calling on Yemenis to defend the revolution’s gains — especially sovereign decision-making free of external dictates.

The September 21 Revolution, led by Ansarullah in 2014, toppled Yemen’s former government and ended years of US tutelage over the country’s decision-making. Since 2015, Yemen has faced a devastating US-Saudi-led military intervention. The war, now in its second decade, has entrenched Ansarullah as the dominant force in northern Yemen, while Yemen’s alignment with the Palestinian cause and its confrontations with the Israeli enemy in the Red Sea have given the revolution a regional dimension.
