Officials and Experts: September 21 Revolution Ended Embassy Rule and Western-American Tutelage in Yemen

News - Yemen: More than a decade has passed since Yemen’s glorious September 21 Revolution, which decisively ended foreign dominance and interference, broke the chains of external tutelage, and restored national sovereignty on the ground.

Despite the relatively short time and the immense challenges facing the revolution—including the ongoing US-Saudi-Emirati-Zionist aggression against Yemen—the achievements have been substantial, particularly in military and security domains. Yemen today ranks among the advanced countries in military technology and has become a strategic obstacle and a persistent challenge to its enemies.

Acting Minister of Justice and Human Rights Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Shami emphasized that the revolution safeguards Yemen’s sovereignty, protects its territory, and preserves its wealth and resources from theft and exploitation.

He praised the sacrifices of Yemeni fighters who have shed their blood defending their people from global tyrants, attributing the successes to the wise and courageous leadership of Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi and the support of Yemen’s free and patriotic population, including all political and social components.

Al-Shami stressed that the leadership’s wisdom and courage strengthen decision-making and increase the likelihood of its success, while broad popular mobilization enhances the revolution’s resilience. He noted that before the revolution, Yemen languished under foreign tutelage and embassy dominance, with political forces compromising the independence and freedom of the Yemeni people.

He added that the revolution rekindled Yemen’s dignity, pride, and honor, restoring the country’s historic and civilizational legacy, and became a solid pillar for the aspirations of the Yemeni people, embodying the values of freedom and independence.

He affirmed that the September 21 Revolution defended Yemen’s land, people, and identity, emerging entirely from the will of its people without foreign interference, and corrected the course of previous revolts to achieve its objectives, including dismantling the system of dependency and building a strong national army rooted in patriotism and faith.

The revolution also thwarted plans to fragment Yemen into disputed regions and cantons, restoring the country’s strategic position on the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and establishing Yemen as a key regional player and deterrent power, particularly in confronting American hegemony and supporting the Palestinian cause.

Deputy Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment Ahmed Mohammed Al-Shoutri described the revolution as a national and popular necessity that reflected the aspirations of the Yemeni masses to end corruption and foreign tutelage. He highlighted that the revolution saved Yemen from destructive plans devised by international colonial powers through their regional and local tools, presenting the movement as a powerful popular outcry rejecting oppression and exploitation while curbing the influence of external powers draining the nation’s resources.

Al-Shoutri noted that before the revolution, Yemen suffered severe economic and political deterioration under clear foreign tutelage, with key decisions contingent upon the approval of regional and international powers. Wealth was concentrated among a small elite, while the September 21 Revolution achieved political, economic, and cultural independence, enabling Yemen to make sovereign decisions aligned with the people’s aspirations and reinforcing its honorable stance in supporting the Palestinian people in Gaza.

He further emphasized the revolution’s strategic dimension, which effected radical transformations internally, regionally, and internationally by liberating national decision-making from external control, building a strong national army capable of defending the country and aiding the oppressed, and establishing strategic deterrent balances.

The revolution also laid the foundation for economic and cultural independence, promoting local production and reducing dependency on imports, uniting the public behind the liberation project led by Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, with the Yemeni tribes playing a central role in supporting and realizing its national objectives. Al-Shoutri affirmed that the Yemeni tribes actively defend Gaza, uphold moral and religious principles, and remain committed to support regardless of challenges or conspiracies.

Deputy Minister of Oil and Minerals Mohammed Mohsen Al-Najjar stressed that the September 21 Revolution prevented global arrogance powers from imposing tutelage or controlling any Arab country, asserting that true revolution changes individuals’ mindsets as the foundation for wider transformation and strongly confronts enemies—including the Zionist entity and its allies—mobilizing all tools to obstruct the revolution.

He distinguished the Yemeni revolution from the Western- and Israeli-orchestrated “Arab Spring,” noting that while the latter served foreign agendas, the September 21 Revolution champions national independence, protects sovereign decision-making, ends embassy and American-Western tutelage, and transformed Yemen from a weak aid-dependent country into a sovereign and independent power.

Al-Najjar highlighted the catastrophic pre-revolution conditions, where foreign powers controlled the state apparatus and decision-making, with embassies, international organizations, and the World Bank supervising all government work. The revolution, he said, established an honest national leadership, fostered a capable government with programs promoting development and self-sufficiency, built a military to protect national decision-making and resources, and eliminated terrorist and espionage cells threatening the nation.

The September 21 Revolution, he noted, has achieved strategic gains regionally and globally, restored Yemen as an influential power defending the Arab and Islamic world, supported the oppressed in Palestine, and demonstrated to the world that Yemen is a pillar of pride, sovereignty, and dignity. International artists and activists have recognized Yemen’s role in restoring hope and security in the face of injustice.

Al-Najjar concluded that the September 21 Revolution was a necessary and decisive act to save the nation in a time of peak global arrogance, extending congratulations to Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi and reaffirming loyalty to the Yemeni people, the martyrs, and the steadfast fighters, emphasizing adherence to the revolution’s principles and steadfast pursuit of victory.

The September 21 Revolution, led by Ansarullah marked a decisive break from decades of foreign control over Yemen, particularly by the United States and its regional allies. Before the uprising, Yemeni governance and decision-making were heavily influenced by foreign embassies, undermining national sovereignty.

Since 2014, despite a US-Saudi-Emirati-Zionist military campaign, Yemen has strengthened its military capabilities, built national institutions, and maintained an independent stance, especially in supporting Gaza and confronting the Israeli enemy. The country’s strategic location on the Red Sea has made it a key regional player and a symbol of resistance against foreign domination.
