News - Yemen: In a televised address, a senior Yemeni official presented a comprehensive defense of the 2014 September 21st revolution, characterizing it as a necessary, purely indigenous popular uprising against foreign hegemony, particularly from the United States and its Gulf allies.

A central theme of the address was the critique of the 2011 Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Initiative. The advisor labeled the initiative a "cunning plan" that derailed the youth-led revolution of 2011 by reinstating the previous political system and squandering demands for change and reform.

He painted a picture of a pre-revolution Yemen in a state of catastrophic decline, citing international statistics that placed the country at the bottom of Arab rankings economically, socially, and politically. This was framed not as an accident but as the result of deliberate conspiracies supported by the American embassy and its regional tools, which targeted vital sectors to keep Yemen weak and dependent.

The 2014 revolution, he stated, was therefore an "inevitable necessity" and the only option to save the country from total collapse. It was directed not against individuals but towards "restoring independent national decision-making, safeguarding the dignity of Yemenis, and protecting their resources from plunder and guardianship."

Finally, An'am positioned the revolution as the beginning of a new national path based on a "Quranic project" and a "jihadi march" in confrontation with the "Zionist enemy entity and its tools of hegemony and arrogance," calling for collective political awareness to preserve the revolution's gains.

The September 21 Revolution, led by Ansarullah in 2014, toppled Yemen’s former government and ended years of US tutelage over the country’s decision-making. Since 2015, Yemen has faced a devastating US-Saudi-led military intervention. The war, now in its second decade, has entrenched Ansarullah as the dominant force in northern Yemen, while Yemen’s alignment with the Palestinian cause and its confrontations with the Israeli enemy in the Red Sea have given the revolution a regional dimension.
