Yemeni Parliament Condemns International Silence Over 'Israeli' Strikes on Civilians

News - Yemen: The Yemeni Parliament issued a strongly worded statement Friday, condemning the international community's silence and what it described as Arab inaction in the face of continuing "war crimes" committed by the "Zionist entity" against the Yemeni and Palestinian peoples.

The statement specifically denounced a recent "Zionist direct attack" on residential areas in Al-Raqas Street in Ma'een District and the systematic bombing of power stations in more than 13 airstrikes. It reported a preliminary casualty figure of nine fatalities, including four children and two women, with more than 174 wounded, among them 59 children and 35 women.

The parliament asserted that the persistent policy of "turning a blind eye and applying double standards" has encouraged and enabled the leaders of the "criminal Israeli enemy entity" to commit further massacres against civilians with American and European support and cover.

It argued that the "international silence could not have continued with such audacity were it not for the disgraceful Arab inaction," characterizing the "blatant Zionist attacks" as a violation of Yemen's sovereignty and a serious breach of international and humanitarian law, the UN Charter, and all international norms and covenants.

The statement further claimed that the continued silence of the international community, foremost the United Nations and the Security Council, regarding the enemy's crimes, has "exposed the falsehood of Western civilization and the so-called international order."

The Parliament called upon the international community, regional and international human rights and humanitarian organizations, and the world's nations, parliaments, and "free people" to condemn the "heinous Zionist crime" and take urgent action to hold the leaders of the "Zionist occupation entity" accountable for their crimes in Yemen and Palestine. It also urged pressure to stop the ongoing violations and attacks on the Yemeni and Palestinian peoples and to lift the "unjust siege" imposed on the Gaza Strip.

Emphasizing that the "crimes of the Zionist enemy will not expire with time," the statement affirmed that the Yemeni people will remain steadfast in the face of aggression, continue supporting the Palestinian people in Gaza, and insist on their legitimate right to defend their sovereignty, dignity, and security until "complete victory is achieved and a Palestinian state with Quds as its capital is established."

The statement concluded with prayers for the souls of the martyrs, deepest condolences to their families, and wishes for a speedy recovery for the wounded and a swift release for prisoners.

At least nine people have lost their lives and more than 170 others have sustained injuries when the Israeli military bombed the Yemeni capital Sana’a, Yemeni officials say, as tensions in the West Asia region continue to escalate amid Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.

In light of the worsening genocidal war in Gaza that started in October 2023, Yemeni forces executed a strategic maritime blockade intended to obstruct the delivery of military resources to Israel while urging the global community to address the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

In one of the latest operations against Israel, the Yemeni forces launched a drone operation against Eilat on Wednesday, calling it “a qualitative military operation using two drones targeting two Israeli enemy targets.”

More than 20 Israeli settlers were injured—two of them seriously—in the operation.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have stated unequivocally that they will continue their operations until Israel puts an end to its ground and aerial assaults in Gaza.

The Israeli enemy has killed at least 65,502 Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip since October 2023, according to the health ministry of Gaza.
