In a post on the social media platform X, Wallace stated, "The Zionist enemy has killed 31 journalists in Yemen, and not a single EU member state has condemned this," questioning, "Why has the EU abandoned international law?"
According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza, the "criminal entity" has committed horrific crimes against media personnel, leading to the deaths of 193 journalists in Gaza, six in Lebanon, three in Iran, in addition to the 31 in Yemen. Meanwhile, the Government Media Office in Gaza reports that the number of journalist martyrs in the Strip has risen to 251 not 193.
This criticism comes amid growing condemnation of the international silence towards the targeting of journalists, which human rights organizations consider a war crime that does not expire with time.
Recent Israeli enemy airstrikes on media offices in Sana'a have drawn international attention to the toll on journalists in conflict zones. The strikes targeted the offices of the 26 September and Yemen newspapers.
Local media described the attack as the largest-ever assault on journalism in Yemen. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) called it the deadliest single strike on journalists worldwide in 16 years, and the second-largest in global history.
The report concluded that the Zionist occupation continues to commit crimes against journalists across the region under the watch of an international community that has failed to take any meaningful action, thereby undermining the credibility of global rights and humanitarian organizations.
Yemen’s entry into the ongoing regional confrontation has expanded beyond symbolic solidarity with Palestine. Since 2023, its forces have targeted both the Zionist entity and shipping linked to it, positioning Yemen as a central player in West Asia’s shifting balance of power. At the same time, the targeting of journalists in Yemen, Gaza, and Lebanon has drawn global concern, with media watchdogs warning of a systematic campaign to silence reporting on war crimes.
