In a joint statement marking the first anniversary of the martyrdom of Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who was assassinated on September 27 last year on the road to Al-Quds, the parties renewed their allegiance to the path of resistance and loyalty to its principles.
“We renew our commitment to the resistance path on the first anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and his loyal companion Hashem Safieddine,” the statement read, adding that this occasion represents “a school of sacrifice and dignity.”
The statement stressed that the blood of martyrs will remain a beacon for the nation and a driving force for unity and resistance until liberation and victory are achieved. It concluded by reiterating adherence to the cause of Palestine and the struggles of the nation, affirming loyalty to the testament of martyrs until the promise of divine victory and the end of the usurping Zionist entity.
Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was assassinated on September 27, 2024, in an Israeli bombardment targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut. Israeli enemy warplanes dropped an estimated 85 tons of explosives, flattening six residential buildings in Dahiyeh during a week-long campaign that extended from south Lebanon to the capital. Among those martyred in the strikes was senior Hezbollah commander Ali Nilforoushan.
Just days later, on October 3, 2024, Sayyed Hashem Safieddine — Sayyed Nasrallah’s long-time deputy and companion — was martyred in a separate Israeli aggression.
Due to fears of further Israeli strikes, Hezbollah postponed funeral ceremonies for both leaders. Their final burial took place months later, on February 23, 2025, in Beirut, amid massive popular mourning and heightened security.
