News - Middle East: The Gaza Strip is witnessing an unprecedented Zionist escalation in recent hours, characterized by intense airstrikes and severe artillery shelling targeting residential areas and shelters for displaced civilians. This development occurred shortly after Hamas announced its acceptance of a proposed plan to stop the aggression and release Zionist captives as part of an agreed-upon exchange formula.

While observers viewed Hamas's acceptance of the American proposal as a step towards ending the aggression, the Israeli enemy responded with an unjustified field escalation, sparking popular and human rights condemnation, especially amidst the catastrophic humanitarian conditions endured by the blockaded population.

In this context, Mahmoud Basal, the spokesperson for the Civil Defense in Gaza City, reported that the Zionist aggression and shelling targeted densely populated areas and shelters where displaced people were taking refuge, describing the situation as "insane."

He stated, "We in Gaza City are currently being subjected to merciless bombardment; the occupation aircraft do not leave the skies, and shells are raining down on civilians indiscriminately."

The shelling concentrated on neighborhoods in the north and south of Gaza City, leading to new waves of displacement for families who had recently returned to their homes, amid an atmosphere of terror and panic, particularly among children and the elderly, according to Almasirah channel's correspondent in Gaza, Doaa Roqa.

In a broadcast on Almasirah channel, Roqa confirmed that "Quadcopter" drones directly opened fire on citizens' homes in several areas, marking a change in attack tactics that signals a dangerous field shift in the pattern of aggression.

She noted that the sound of explosions has not ceased, coinciding with intense activity by Zionist warplanes and helicopters, while eastern and western neighborhoods of Gaza City face simultaneous airstrikes described as the most violent in weeks.

Roqa reiterated that the Zionist shelling resulted in a number of martyrs and dozens injured in the past few hours, including women and children, explaining that medical teams face significant difficulties reaching targeted areas due to the ongoing bombardment and collapsed infrastructure.

She warned that the continuation of the Zionist aggression, despite the existence of an international initiative, would exacerbate the catastrophic humanitarian situation, especially after the destruction of approximately 35 health facilities and hundreds of thousands of civilians losing their homes.

Roqa clarified that "the health system is in a state of complete collapse, and hospitals lack the capacity to deal with the influx of wounded due to the continuous airstrikes."

A severe escalation of Israeli enemy airstrikes and artillery fire has hit the Gaza Strip, targeting residential areas and civilian shelters. This violence comes shortly after Hamas agreed to a US-backed truce proposal, a move that observers believed could pave the way for ending the genocide.

Hamas submitted on Friday its response to the 20-point proposal forwarded by US President Donald Trump that claims to terminate the Israeli aggression.

The Gaza-based resistance group said it agrees to “release all Israeli captives, living and deceased,” and that it approves of “handing over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independents (technocrats) based on Palestinian national consensus and based on Arab and Islamic support.”

Hamas noted that it had come up with the response “based on national responsibility and out of concern for the constants, rights, and supreme interests of our people.”

Trump said Hamas’s response showed the resistance group was “ready for lasting peace,” and demanded that “Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza.”
