The appeal came during a visit by a human-rights delegation led by Sumayya al-Taifi, head of the organization, to the martyr’s family in Sana’a. The delegation extended condolences to his sister, Amani al-Afiri, and listened to testimonies detailing years of suffering and violations endured by the family.
Al-Taifi affirmed that al-Afiri’s execution constituted a full-fledged war crime, carried out by Islah-affiliated militants operating under the control of the aggression coalition. She noted that al-Afiri faced fabricated charges and a sham trial that lacked even the most basic standards of justice.
She added that the case exemplifies the systematic brutality practiced by coalition-backed militias against prisoners and detainees in areas under their control, pointing out that such crimes — including executions, torture, and mutilation — have persisted amid international silence and the failure of human-rights organizations to act.
During the visit, the family recounted a series of tragedies, including the death of the prisoner’s mother, Hadiyah Sultan, who was run over by an Islah-affiliated military vehicle, and the killing of two of her sons by mercenaries in Taiz Province after years of persecution.
Al-Taifi revealed that Entisaf is preparing a comprehensive human-rights report documenting the violations suffered by the al-Afiri family since the onset of the aggression. The report will be submitted to international bodies as part of efforts to seek justice and accountability.
She concluded by stressing that crimes against prisoners constitute a grave breach of international humanitarian law, urging the international community to break its silence and uphold justice long denied to the Yemeni people and the families of aggression victims.
Prisoner Isa Muqbil al-Afiri was executed by Islah Party militias in Taiz following a fabricated trial and false charges — a move widely condemned as a blatant violation of international and humanitarian law.
The execution of al-Afiri reflects a broader pattern of abuses and extrajudicial killings committed by Islah-affiliated militias operating under the US-Saudi-UAE coalition. Rights groups have documented recurring cases of torture and arbitrary trials against prisoners in Taiz and other occupied areas, amid ongoing international silence and continued impunity for perpetrators.
