News- Middle East: Iran’s top security official says the Palestinian people’s warm welcome for the released prisoners proves that resistance is always steadfast and victorious.

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani made the remark in a post on his X account on Monday after a total of 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences in Israeli jails, along with 1,718 Palestinians detained since October 7, 2023, were released as part of the first phase of a ceasefire agreement. 

"The enthusiastic and grand welcoming ceremony extended by the brave and oppressed people of Palestine for the freed prisoners showed which side is victorious!” he said.

Larijani emphasized that the Israeli regime is now witnessing that, after two years of brutal massacre, the status of Hamas and resistance has been elevated in the hearts of the people.

The ceasefire agreement was reached between the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and the Israeli regime to end the two-year genocidal war on Gaza, whose main objectives, according to Israeli leaders, were the eradiation of Hamas and securing the release of the captives. 

Israel achieved neither of those goals despite killing nearly 68,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and razing much of Gaza to the ground. 

Currently, there is no information available regarding the destinations for the released Palestinians. However, during a previous prisoner release in January, dozens of detainees were sent to various countries in the region, such as Tunisia, Algeria, and Turkey.

Observers have stated that the forced exile constitutes a blatant violation of the citizenship rights of the freed prisoners and exemplifies the double standards associated with the exchange agreements.
