In a statement released today, the ministry described the late Hamas military commander as "an immortal model in the history of resistance" and an "inspirational symbol for free people in Palestine and the Islamic world."
The statement portrayed Sinwar's life as embodying "the highest meanings of faith, courage and sacrifice," highlighting his role as a "steadfast mujahid confronting the Zionist occupation."
The ministry's communique asserted that Sinwar's "heroic epic of dignity" would remain "eternal in the collective memory of the nation," crediting his steadfast positions with creating a lasting legacy of resistance. The statement further claimed that such martyrdoms strengthen rather than weaken the Palestinian struggle, making it "more solid and determined to complete the path of liberation."
In a significant show of political alignment, the statement praised Hamas specifically, applauding the movement's "steadfastness" and claiming it had "prevailed in the fields of dignity" through "patience and faith" during recent conflicts.
The ministry reiterated what it described as "the firm position of Yemen's leadership, government and people - in supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate resistance until obtaining all their rights and restoring their land and sanctities."
The statement concluded by declaring that "the Palestinian cause will remain the central issue for Yemen and the entire Islamic nation," positioning Yemen firmly within the axis of resistance against the Israeli enemy despite the ongoing conflict within Yemen itself and international pressure.
The strong language and specific praise for Hamas underscores the deepening alignment between Yemen's authorities and Palestinian resistance groups, reflecting the regional polarization surrounding the Gaza conflict.
In October 16, 2024, Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the Gaza-based resistance movement Hamas, was killed in active combat in Rafah, southern Gaza, wearing a combat vest with an AK-47 rifle on his side.
