News - Yemen: Yemen's Acting Prime Minister Mohamed Miftah has formally expressed condolences for the martyrdom of the country's top military commander, pledging that his martyrdom would only strengthen Yemen's resolve to support Palestinian resistance.

In an official statement, Miftah conveyed sympathies to revolutionary leader Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi and Supreme Political Council President Mahdi al-Mashat over the martyrdom of Major General Mohammed Abdulkarim al-Ghumari, the Chief of General Staff.

The acting premier characterized the slain commander as a lasting source of "pride, honor and reverence for our people and nation," describing him as an inspiration for "free generations walking the path of jihad, dignity and resilience."

Miftah emphasized that al-Ghumari's martyrdom would only increase the Yemeni people's "strength and determination to support the oppressed in Gaza, back the Palestinian cause, and all the nation's fateful issues."

The statement praised the significant role played by the martyred commander "throughout past years in the military confrontation path with the US-Saudi aggression coalition, and over two years within the framework of the 'Promised Conquest and Sacred Jihad' battle." Miftah portrayed al-Ghumari as embodying "sincere faith-based spirit and strong belonging to his homeland, nation, and its fateful causes."

Major General Mohammed Abdul Karim al-Ghamari, one of Yemen’s most prominent military figures, was martyred alongside his son and several companions in US-Israeli airstrikes targeting Yemen during the two-year-long Al-Aqsa Flood campaign. The Yemeni Armed Forces confirmed his martyrdom in a statement Thursday, announcing that the strikes also claimed the lives of numerous senior officials, ministers, and personnel from Yemen’s naval, missile, and air defense forces.

The Israeli enemy had made multiple assassination attempts against al-Ghamari before ultimately succeeding in the recent US-Israeli attack that claimed his life. These repeated attempts underscored the significance of al-Ghamari’s role in directing Yemen’s military operations and his central position in shaping the regional resistance front.

Al-Ghamari was widely regarded as the strategic architect behind many of Yemen’s long-range missile and drone campaigns that reshaped deterrence dynamics across the region. His martyrdom, observers say, further cements Yemen’s alignment with the regional Axis of Resistance and highlights the shared military and ideological coordination between Yemen, Iran, and Palestine.
