Mohammed Abdulsalam Meets UN Envoy, Urges Implementation of Peace Roadmap

News - Yemen: The head of the Yemeni National Delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, met with the UN envoy to discuss the peace process based on the roadmap submitted to the United Nations and agreed with Saudi Arabia under the auspices of Oman.

Abdulsalam emphasized the need to resume implementing the roadmap, particularly its humanitarian provisions, stressing that there is no justification for continued delays.

He also addressed the issue of organization workers detained in Sana’a over involvement in espionage cells, stating: “In principle, there is no interest in detaining any organization worker without cause. We presented the UN with information from Sana’a security authorities regarding the subversive role of the detainees, and the concerned authorities are ready to provide evidence proving their involvement in espionage activities under the guise of humanitarian work.”

Abdulsalam criticized the misuse of humanitarian organizations as covers for espionage, noting that such actions undermine trust in their legitimate humanitarian work.

He reaffirmed Yemen’s commitment to fair solutions and ongoing coordination to allow organizations to continue their humanitarian and relief work while preventing future security violations.

These statements come amid reports of renewed Omani efforts to revive the peace process. Sana’a reiterated its commitment to completing the peace steps and implementing the UN roadmap, while rejecting any attempts at delay or crisis-shifting in Yemen.

Additionally, Sana’a warned of the risks of undermining the economic truce signed with Riyadh in late June last year, vowing to respond proportionally to any ongoing commercial or financial restrictions imposed by “Saudi-Emirati coalition tools.”

In a related development, acting head of the government, Mohammed Maftah, issued a firm warning against continued restrictive measures, emphasizing that the principle of reciprocal response remains in effect.

Despite ongoing mediation efforts led by Oman, progress has stalled as Saudi Arabia seeks to link the Yemeni peace file to regional dynamics, particularly the war in Gaza, where Yemen has played a prominent role in supporting the Palestinian resistance through missile and drone operations against the Israeli enemy and its allies.
